Crash Mats (heel proof & in Canada??)

Hello, I live in Merritt, B.C Canada and I swear I am the only one who pole dances here 😉 , lol, regardless I am searching for a heel proof crash mat that is preferrably a bit over 4 ft and at least 4 inches. I do not know ANYWHERE in Canada that sells such things for I've ordered my pole and shoes/boots all online. The shipping charges for mats internationally is outrageous! and being a single mom of three, is not very realistic for me, but neither is a serious injury! So I have been searching everywhere for reviews because if i DO invest into one, I want to make sure it's strong enough for heels (every now and again) and big enough, for some reason 4 x 4 seems so small to me. I've considered the "Pole O mat" but like I said earlier I don't know ANYONE who has it or what they think of it, or any others for that matter 🤔 . Could you please please pretty please (with a cherry on top, lol) HELP Me out 🌸 and let me know of any you know of, or ones u have and what u think of them? Recommendations?? thank you EVER so much! I'm new to studio veena, just been here a month and ABSOLUTLEY LOVE IT!! 🙂

At one point in time Pole Junkies in Calgary had crash mats. I no longer see them on their website but it might be worth a call.

Welcome to Studio Veena! I just joined too. Maybe you can order it on-line from Sport Chalet? I heard they sell them. When I have time I am going to physically walk into the store and ask them. So far, I have found "firm grip" there (the best), in the baseball section. It sells for 7 bucks a spray can. When I purchased it from firm grip on-line, it was $15! 🤔 🙄 signed, whatup aka polegalore.com

I've considered the "Pole O mat" but like I said earlier I don't know ANYONE who has it or what they think of it, or any others for that matter 🤔 . I have the chunkier pole-o-mat 🙂 I baulked at the price for a long time but I'm glad I went ahead and bought it. I wouldn't say it's comfortable to fall on but I've never been hurt, which I supposed is the important bit! I wouldn't place too much importance on the "heel proof" selling point though. My stiletto heels have never gone through but it's almost impossible to walk on in heels anyway. It squidges down when you step on it - which is fine in bare feet but totally unstable in heels, not to mention the joiny bits inbetween each square of mat that your heel can easily sink down. I worry so much for my ankles that I don't use it with heels often! Maybe the thinner one is easier to walk on though, I don't know. Dunno about Canadian suppliers as I'm in the UK 🙁

Just wanted to add that I have the thinner Pole O Mat and it's NOT easier to walk on. I haven't tried it in heels but just in bare feet it squidges down alot when u walk on it so you can't really dance. I just put it down when I am trying new things.

I bought mine through Pole Junkies and it has saved my life on more than one occasion. Just email her (Alena) and she'll send you a link to the pictures and then you can pick your size and order it. Be very patient; she's very busy but it's totally worth the wait and she'll give you tips for moves on the phone! Her advice got me the gemini! Because it ships out of Calgary, the postage is pretty reasonable. It is heel proof, but it's got too much give to walk around in heels on! If you're just standing and practicing inverts in heels, it might work--you're heels will NOT penetrate!

Hey there! I went to Canadian Tire and got these kids puzzle piece mats (probably meant for children to play on). They come in bright colours, unfortunately, but they work really well. I simply cut a circle in the middle the circumference of my pole and voila! Hope that helps.

I ordered mine from yogadirect.com and the shipping was free. It is 5 inches thick and 5 feet wide. I've never worn heels when using it but I have fallen a few times and it's saved my butt from some nasty bumps and bruises.

Sinnamon-No so just avoid what I said, for to ship to Canada the company would probably charge the customer. I ordered mine through Amazon and the seller was YogaDirect and they were promoting free shipping at the time.

Welcome to SV!! Oh good ol' Merrit! I'm from Kelowna! Haven't been to Merrit in a long time. I can understand why you can't find a good crash mat in that area. Your best bet is to purchase online or make one. My bf bought me one from Amazon and it's by yogadirect. I really like it and I haven't had any problems with it so far. A lot of people complain about poor quality and that it ripped at the seams but another Veener and I haven't had that problem. We are pretty happy with ours and we can go pretty hard on it during our pole jam sessions and it's still in good condition. If you have a craft store in your area, then you can go there and purchase foam (foam is expensive) and glue it together and put a sheet over top. I know it sounds ghetto but I was about to make my own and then my bf surprised me with a mat. I hope this helps and keep me updated.

@Sinnamon ... I just saw your post! I do sell and ship Free, pole crash mats in Canada ( they are not made in Canada ) they are $199 for 2inch and $299 for 5 inch! There is also an affiliate discount as well and large order wholesale pricing! This is in Canadian dollars as well!
