Is it just my out of shape tail, or do all polers experience constant soreness when they begin. I know me poling too often has something to do with it, but even when I wasn't, I was still sore all the darn time. Anyone else?

Yes I used to get sore all the time when I was just going to pole class once a week. And that was just poling once a week! I think the soreness stopped because my body has gotten used to the sternious pole exercises and strength moves I make it do. Also if my arms or something starts getting sore while I'm poling or something, I make sure I stop for alittle bit and massage my tired muscles. After every poling session, I try to stretch and massage my poor sore muscles and I'm good the next day. Another thing that I do if I'm especially sore right after a pole session is to go take a really warm shower (or a bath!). My arms are the only part of my body that ever gets sore now, and what I like to do is prop one of my legs up onto the ledge of the bath tub so that it's right underneath the running water of the shower head. Then I place my arm right ontop of the knee so that it's resting and you're not actively keeping it up. While the warm water is raining directly down on my arm, I give it a good massage to relieve some soreness and tension. Then I switch arms. Give that a try!
When I started pole dancing I was often sore afterwards for about three days. If I had poled more often than twice a week I would've probably hurt myself. Luckily, twice a week was all I could afford. I was starting from pretty much a completely sedentary lifestyle and very little strength. I think that adding protein to my diet helped me the most in strength recovery. I drink a protein shake after every workout, within a half hour of being on the pole. It fuels the muscles with the building blocks they need to rebuild and strengthen after a workout. That and bubble baths help with the pain! :)

Oh yes englann is correcto about the protein! I seem to be craving tons of protein as of late, and always always hydrate yourself by drinking tons of water!
