Confused: Xpole Extension

hello! im going to buy a 40mm Xpole Xpert (YAY).  But thing is i have got two ceilings i wish to shift it around to.. so my question is, can i buy the longest extension (1000mm) and use it on my shorter ceiling (9ft 1inch)? Will the pole still be able to connect even though there's so much "wasted pole"?? Muchhh help needed thank you! xxx dun wanna end up buying so many extensions :/ (the higher ceiling is 10ft 7inch)
