Climbing on a spinny pole

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if there is a "special" climb you use on spin mode. I find that when I try to climb on spin mode, the pole just spins way to fast for me. When I watch videos (obviously not of myself) the ladies seem to climb so effortlessly and the pole stays at the same spin speed, which is actually quite slow.... When I try to climb, as soon as I pull up my legs to push up, the pole just spins erratically and it makes it sooooo hard. Please help.

This is just a matter of learning how to control spin pole. You should video yourself....you probably are not spinning as fast as you think you are!

Yes, you feel you're spinning much faster than what you actually are, most likely. Video will give you great feedback!

It's much easier to climb on spin mode if you use a forearm grip (rather than a baseball grip). That will keep your body a more consistent distance from the pole, so you won't speed up while you're resetting your legs between climbs. If you have Veena's lessons, she teaches a forearm grip climb in her Performance Climb video.

Spinny tends to feel faster than it actually is, but if you mean that you are bringing your upper body close to the pole while climbing, then you are probably spinning very fast FOR REAL. To avoid it, use that forearm grip as was suggested and when climbing, avoid giving the pole a push in the spinning direction. Move your body carefully simply upwards. Stick your bum out and create a little arch in your lower back to make it look nice. Not saying this is easy!
