Chair Dance NIGHTMARE

I wanted to share this anecdote with you guys because I couldn't think of people who would enjoy it more. Last night I was a vendor at a Ladies Night Ball at a local bar. It's about a half an hour from me so I have never heard of the place. Their website says they are where bikers meet country - I thought great - this could be really cool or really bad. Well.....I got there, set up and was set to teach a sexy chair class. I asked the even coordinator how sexy they really wanted the class to be. She said all out sexy. OKAY! Well there not many people there and the people who there were line dancing!!!! I ended up having about 10 people take the class and that was pulling teeth. Half way through the 30 minute class - all but two people stopped and complained their abs hurt and they didn't like the sexiness of the dance. Okay so I thought let's just finish and dance and get out of here. NOPE! I was asked to do a solo chair dance - which I did and I know I rocked it - NO ONE CLAPPED! NO ONE enjoyed it. You could tell they all thought ill of me. It was way too sexy for an older married couple crowd. I mean I am sure some of the women did like it but didn't appreciate their husbands watch me grind a chair for 3 minutes and 45 seconds. In the end I made $50 and left humiliated. There was no one under 45 there. Which is fine because thats the median age of the women I teach - IN A STUDIO WITH NO MEN THERE!!!!! I think the public atmosphere was intimidating to the students and they certainly weren't happy with me grinding all over the place. I could have screamed.

i'm sorry, that really sucks 🙁 they just weren't ready for it, you know people ask for it, but they're just not ready to really be comfortable. if they asked for it, its their issues, not yours! that does bite tho 🙁 cheers! lis

WOW Charley, what an experience!!! The people who hired you to do it obviously had no clue what it was all about! And ok, i can understand the women not being able to follow through with it, or even feeling a bit uneasy with their husbands watching you (kindof, but still stupid), but WTF, no applause???? How fricking RUDE!! 👎 👎 I mean, you even tried teaching them! It's just ridiculous. I'm so glad you danced your a$$ off & were sexy as he**!! I'm sure the men at least enjoyed it- they probably were just too scared too show it, knowing what would await them once they got home with their insecure wives! 😁 And 50$ ? what's that about? Ha. What unappreciative people.. i'd be on cloud 9 if i had the chance to get a chair dance lesson from you!! 😀 At least you got an experience out of it though.. a nightmare-ish one, but still an experience! Thanks for sharing the story with us! 🥂 🥂

The whole thing is really funny to me now. I think they were too offended to clap to be fair about it. I know when I am on and when I am not and last night I was and I know I gave a great performance - I even did a back flip off the chair!!!! I just felt bad for seeing how offended they all were when all was said and done. It's no one's fault really. But pretty funny - I am a filthy dancer - spreading my filth! haha!

Hahahha you're too funny!!It IS a funny story, but i still think it's the bar's fault for assuming that the people wanted "all out sexy".. lol. I wish i could've seen their faces, as well as your performance! 😂 😂 😂

They were pretty stunned and expressionless. I think they have a different view of sexy than we do. They actually said to be stripperish - I delivered. Oh well. You win some you lose some. I would have loved to have known what they were all thinking though. Life Lesson - don't do stripperish, grinding chair dance in a country western mine dance bar!

OMG, Charley, what an awful crowd! It just goes to show you how important the audience is - you were absolutely on your game, and they just couldn't be there with you. Grr. And it's not an age thing - I'm 42, for god's sake. They just weren't able to deal with sexuality. But not to clap is just appalling. And to sit there judging you when they were just insecure and jealous is pathetic. Hope the next time goes better!

That WAS pretty rude of them, they wanted sexy and you gave it to them, what did they expect? 🤔 I suggest checking places out and seeing what style people are doing so you can mix a blend of that in with your dancing, if possible. I would've liked to see your routines though, regardless of the crowd... too bad you don't have a video to share 💣

I would never have been able to be "on" in a crowd like that. Sounds like the person that hired you did not do their homework.

Sound like you did your part just fine!! Its sooo not your problem that they didn't like what they asked for. 🙄 I'm sure you did a wonderful job....some people. 🙄

Honestly - even performing for them knowing they weren't into it was easy because I knew the routine and knew what I was doing and I was having so much fun. When no one clapped - for me that's when I felt terrible. I have clapped for terrible performances but none the less appreciate someone trying to entertain. It was a much more conservative crowd than I was told. I would never go back there for any type of event again. Now, it's plain funny to me. I am sure some of the guys wanted to clap and even some women wanted to take part in it but was afraid of what the others would think. This is why we have studios to teach these kinds of things in a cozier environment.

What total crap! I can sum it up in one word: JEALOUSY. OK, I know this sounds really rude but it has been my experience that many (NOT ALL) middle-aged (which I am), middle american, conservative women don't respond well to beautiful, thin, sexy, empowered young women. Either it reminds them of who they had wanted to be when they were young, or it offends their moral fiber--whatever! I would have paid you double that to be the chair you were grinding on. Love ya.

I feel awkward watching this hotness with my wife because I know she's uncomfortable and embarassed and probably jealous and thinks I enjoy it. Which I do". And the women were like "OMG this little bitch is hot and I know he's just loving it up. I wish I could dance like that for him. Maybe I should have taken that class she gave. Nah, I'll never be able to move like her. Shit this is hot. He better not clap for her". LOL 😀 It sucks that they didn't clap for you. I can only imagine how you felt at that moment but I would bet my whole paycheck that if you had sucked and fumbled and fell all over the place...they would have given you a standing ovation LOL. Haters.

Charley, Next time- invite your pole peeps! Once the crowd hears us clapping, they might be willing to join in. They were probably just too afraid of what others would think if they showed their appreciation. You know they went home and fantasized about ya! 😉 😉

Everything you wrote is probably 100% spot on. It was just a BAD venue for something like this. I don't blame the audience, I blame the event coordination. You have to account for everyone attending your event. She should have researched chair dancing first. Next time- invite your pole peeps! Once the crowd hears us clapping, they might be willing to join in. HAHAHAHA! I can imagine you and Quila being their screaming your lungs out. LOL! I would have given more fore notice but I found on Friday about the event. Who know maybe one of those women really wants to take a class and will call. I can understand not wanting to spread your legs in front of a room full of men and women. I just do it anyway 🙄 😂
