Ceilings...

So I ordered my first pole yesterday! I am totally excited and can't wait to get it here. So today, I was doing a little prep work, getting a stud finder and such. I was checking on where exactly I could put my pole and I noticed that if I press on the ceiling...it moves 🙁. I live in a second floor apartment, which has popcorn ceiling and if I press on the ceiling, it moves. So my question is...What do you all think? My dad thinks I should get a 2ftx2ft 3/4inch thick board with some kind of foam or something and use that against the ceiling to help distribute the pressure. I just wanted to see what you guys thought since most of you have expierence with poling and I have yet to even get mine. PS this is making me a little dissapointed about the situation because I was so excited about learning how to do this. Any tips or advice/perspective would be great! Also... Are you suppose to install the pole between two joists or directly in the middle of one? Thanks Mindy

You have to put the pole up across 2 joist if your in the UK but in the US our joist are farther apart so its better to put it centered on 1. The x pole can't be used on a false or suspended ceiling and must be placed on a joist. 🌸

Thanks! Its not a suspended ceiling...the apts I live in are older so the ceiling is normal drywall but it moves a bit when I press up.

Don't know if this would help or not, but X-Poles have instructions in their instruction manual about how to make a wooden plate to fit inside the rubber ring on top of the dome. Meant to help with stability, but I'm not sure if it would help with your ceilings other than to spread the pressure out just a bit better... Also not sure if it would be a good idea with the popcorn ceilings. But it's something to look at when you get your pole, I guess... 😕 Just a bit of Foxy Rei's 1.5 cents that 9 times out of 10 don't work or apply 😜

If your ceiling is mega-thick, you may have trouble finding the joists... I just use a nail and hammer it into a bunch of random spots until I find something that's hard to hammer through! Wahhaha.
