ceiling damage....

hi. i have an x-pole and started off with it in the living room but then moved it to the kitchen as there was more room, now as i am starting my childminding business again soon i have had to move it again and now have it in the bedroom, upstairs 😢 . However i have a bit of a problem....in all 3 rooms where i have had the pole i have found that it has caused slight damage to the plaster on the ceiling..... it makes a small circle or semi circle of a crack in the ceiling either next to the top of the pole or near the pole i am very worried about causing damage to the house and that it might get worse if i carry on poling, so now i am afraid to use the pole 🙁 when i bought the pole i assured my hubby that it would be fine and safe and NOT damage the house......... what should i do? does anyone know whats causing it? i thought maybe i had it tightened too much but if i loosen it any bit it starts to move................... help! 😢 x

hmm. well im having the same problem but mine doesnt crack. it happens everytime after i put my pole up. my ceiling doesnt have a flat finish its shiny, so it leaves a mark and i have like five different spots on my ceiling. however when i tried to wipe it away with a wet cloth, (i used one of those Clorox wipe thingies) it came right off. Try wiping it away if its just leaving a mark. if its cracking the ceiling, then that probably means that that part of the ceiling doesnt have a joist. If you want a way to find where the joists in your ceiling are, you can buy a stud finder which helps you locate the joists in youre ceiling , and then you can place it in between the two joists and you shouldnt have that problem. If you dont want to buy a stud finder, then you can try knocking on your ceiling: when it makes a solid sound, you've got a joist. when it makes a hollow sound, its empty. its making that semicircle because you probably have it under one of the joists only instead of inbetween two. well, good luck! =)

I have had my X in many different rooms and homes with no problems. Damage will not happen if its installed correctly. Angel is right about finding the studs/joists. A stud finder wont work on plaster so you'll have to use the knocking method. Also be sure your ceiling is in good condition, and yes over tightening it could cause a problem too. It doesn't need to be so tight that you can't turn it any more, just tight enough to be secure. I would give those things a try. Good luck. 👍

are you putting the pole directly under a joist? I've found that if my pole isnt right on a joist it will make a slight indent in the ceiling/flex the ceiling.
