cartwheel hand pain?

So, I just got my cartwheel last weekend and I have practicing it - and my bottom hand is hurting from it. I am not sure if I injured it or if it's just adjusting to a new trick. The pain in mostly in the top of my hand, between my 2nd and third finger. It's not swollen or anything like that - I am just hoping that it will be like how my fingers hurt when I first started poling, and will go away on it's own. Has anyone else had this? It's getting in the way of my big poling plans for today. 😢 I guess for now I will ice it and see if that helps. Thanks!

Make sure that your hands are nicely warmed up before you work on the cartwheel. You could also try stretching the hand for a minute in between working on cartwheels or inverted split grips. Then make sure you give your hands, fingers and forearms a nice long stretch after dancing too. Try not to work on this too often either.....Oh and be sure that your using your "gun" grip for that lower hand.....pointer finger pointing down and along the pole. 🌸 If you have the lessons you can see a close up of the "gun" grip here. http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/2440

Oh no Little C! You can be injured off of our first shared move. It's our special move! I hope it's just some soreness from over use and it gets better after you rest and ice it.

Thanks, ladies - Veena, I think I might be overdoing this one. It's so fun and I have worked on it for so long - this is probably one where easy does it. I probably don't need to do this one 50 times a day. 😂 Thank you for the stretching tips - good idea. 🏴‍☠️ Yes, Sissy! It is our special move - we have to go gentle on it. Take care of those little paws! Ice really seems to be doing the trick - hopefully I will be cartwheeling it up again soon. Thank you! 😉
