On your hands that is..I on my dominate hand, have had for a couple of weeks..do they ever go away like as in your hands get use to the pole, or is it just something that goes hand for hand (lol) with poling?

they are pretty much there to stay, but they get less noticeable over time, like your whole palm will toughen up, so it wont be just straight callouses on it, and you will get them on your non dom hand too, but that may take a bit more time, i got callouses on mine when i first started, and about 2 weeks ago when i started working harder at poling, i got them on the other hand too. 😛
I teach pole dancing anywhere between 4-15 hours a week. I still have calluses. The worst one is one my dominant hand at the base of my middle finger. It just goes with poling. Be proud of your calluses, it shows you are working hard at a fun and exciting sport.

Your skin grows thicker, aka forms calluses, to protect you against the friction & pressure your hands experience when poling 💪. Valuable blister-protection (once you've grown just the right amount), kinda like your very own built-in gloves 👍 However, occasionally when my calluses get a little thick or rough and start bothering me, I use a very fine pumice stone after showering (so the skin is nice & soft) to "sand them down" and smooth them out just a little. Careful not to do too much, because that takes away your protective layer and can irritate the skin & make it grow even more. After all, they are a sign of your hard work, protect you and are 10000000000 times better than blisters & ripped skin 🥂 🥂 🥂
I love my calluses! They are a sign of my hard work...when I am putting moisturizer on my legs and I feel those rough little areas I feel sort of proud (this is stupid, I know!) and I love when ppl ask about what I did to my hands. But, I do have a nasty habit of when they get a little thick to take a.....scalpel...and "shave" some off. Totally wrong, I know...but I can't help it. I sort of want that smooth grippy skin underneath. Whew, feel better having confessed that! 😳

Then it peels. So lovely. 😂

I had an instructor tell me to sand down my calluses because they could break open and put a hole in your palm for a little bit. Because the skin is so hard and you are constantly strecthing it. Any ideas on this?

I have had holes... I've taken to mine with nail scissors or picked at them with teeth and nails when they get big... and that tears the skin off and does leave a hole and can become a wound. Gross! Pumice stones do nothing for me and leaving them alone just annoys the heck out of me! So... I showered and got them all soft, then I had a weird idea... I'll just use my normal razor that I use for my legs and... it worked! Just shaved away til there was no peeling any more... Took the bump off and left it smooth... Still a hard callous, but it's flush with the rest of my skin and doesn't rub. That way I can't possibly cut out too much (as with a blade or scissors) and it's smooth (not rough like how a stone leaves me...with stringy bits). Maybe TMI, but it works for me!
Does anyone use those Ped-Eggs for their hands? I just love them for my feet and, once I start forming those little "badges of honor" on my hands from pole dancing, I imagine I'll use them on my hands too.

I've found callus shavers (found with the pedicure supplies) to be amazingly effective on my hands. I've used it on my feet for years, and it's wonderful! It sounds revolting and painful, but it's not 😉

anyone know how to make them less sore?? i've found 'sanding' them down before poling makes them sensitive, yet when they're all lumpy they get sore as they get nipped so much. compared to pain elsewhere i suppose it's not so bad, but it def doesn't look nice!!
Mine pull if there's any broken or dry skin at all. Smooth and moisturised...but I try not to do anything to them on a pole day. It's worse with grip products too... and I find I get really bad ones on painted/plastic poles, on brass and on 38mm.

i dance twice a week on brass - that explains it!!! just back from 2 weeks hol and they're really soft so have ripped a bit 🙁 meant to be at studio tonight but i'm gonna have to sand them down - otherwise won't be able to do anything!!
Brass is a bit rare, where do you dance?

CALLUS SHAVER!! Its the shit 🙂 My hands get really sore if the calluses get too big. Then they just hurt með more then help me so I shave them of about every other week I think. But Always leave a little bit. I tried the nail file and this that works just like nail file but is for the feet but it doesnt work very well for me. Callus shaver is best for removing calluses! And I have used a boxcutter to wich worked fine to. You just got to be really careful with that.

Callus shaver is the best way to go, I forgot I had one somewhere. I've been attacking my calluses with a pumice stone for the past two days and I'm pretty sure I'm sanding off way more stone than skin... 💪
bringing back an old thread here. Mine are really sore. Below middle finger on both hands they're raised and pretty ouchie. Any advice?
Ive learned to just deal with them from years of gymnastics. I didnt know you could shave them! Yay!

@polecat: have they been there quite a while? For some reason, my hands will callus on top of callus and that is what hurts. When that happens, I do go ahead and use the foot file to smooth them down.
Yeah they're super thick. As long as it wont make them worse I'm gonna give it a go later. x
I bought a nail file for acrylic nails...I use it after a shower or bath and it has done the trick. :o)
Hi Ladies, It has been brought to our attention over the years (Mighty Grip grip aid has been on the market for over 10 years) that with consistant use, Mighty Grip will reduce the problem of callouses on both hands and feet. Just some feedback we have received from users not only in Pole but Golf, Tennis, and Baseball. Joel
@ Mighty Grip - I use your product on my hands but I haven't found it to prevent calluses, however, I will have a go using it more frequently in a workout and see if it does help. Cheers.
Perhaps I worded my answer incorrectly. They will not prevent callouses but rather will soften them and help remove some of the dead skin when you wash your hands and feet. Joel
