breaking shoes

I have seen this happen WAY TOO MUCH lately. Myself, I've had three shoes break after wearing only a couple times, and I know 3 friends that have had shoes break recently too--again, after minimal wear. What's going on? It's not like we are abusing our shoes, but to do anything more than walk and to have them fall apart is SUCH a disappointment. I *need* my shoes and want to know what I can get that will last. I would love to know exactly which shoe you have that you'd buy again (not just brand but the specific shoe). I love 7 inchers (my latest pair to break). :(

Are these mostly clear ones that have been breaking? Where do you keep them when you are not wearing them? Where are they breaking? I would say that probably storage conditions prior to you buying them is going to be the #1 culprit. And clear plastic is going to be worse than the pvc coated fabrics just by nature.

No, not clear. This is my newest pair to break, the previous pair completely snapped off the footbed. And the funny thing? My VERY FIRST PAIR is still just fine. Now THOSE shoes have some mileage.

I will be, AGAIN. They replaced my other pair, and I said I hoped it was only a fluke and not an indication that the quality had gone down. Totally crappy.

I hate to say it, but to me it seems like the more boring the shoe, the sturdier. A lot of these dancer shoes really weren't meant to pole in and thin straps break easily... My best luck has been with Pleasers of the Adore 708/709 variety. I don't wear Ellies so I can't give a good review on that brand.

thanks, korinne, haha, those 708s are the same as my very first pair of shoes, which are still going strong after years! I wish I had thought of that before getting anything more 'fancy' (hello, $80 shoes). I will be sticking to the boring shoes from now on. ;)

I only have one pair of Pleasers to date (so I can't speak for varying 'models') but am happy with the ones I have. Love the wear value of the 708s and the Ellies. I would say the brand I can wear into the ground most have been the Ellies.

I have pleaser. The chrome and clear. I'm not happy anymore with the brand Pleaser. The straps break. And the footbed isn't that good.I have put soms glue on many of them already. Especially the pvc shoes. I heard a loot of good things about Tony heels.

i have used the pleasers adore 708's for years. i have 4 pair of the chrome. i broke the ankle strap on the 1st 2 pairs of them, i have been using the 3rd pair for about 2 years, i have the 4th pair still brand new in the box :) i have been happy with quality of these. i noticed the ones in the red box with butterfly's seems to last longer than the one in the "old" box. i also have a pair of the adore 708's in silver glitter & the little peg/tap in the heal came out but i glued it back. everything else is fine with them & i've had them since 2010. i have the pleasers UV shoes (609's maybe) & the ankle straps broke on those too!!! they were in the "old" style boxes too! i think that might be the issue, maybe the plastic wasn't stored properly... IDK really. but i love the chrome 708's! :D

At my job i see girls dancing, walking, and actually polling for a minimum of five hours a day & I've noticed that unfortunately the more simple the heels are, the harder they are to break. I always keep mine in the black bag that comes in the box when i buy the shoes, i always but from a store and not online, and so far I've only bought Pleasers. I have the basic 4" Black w/simple ankle strap pair & the basic clear w/one clear strap over the top of my foot. I can even so that annoying "clack" sound with them and they're still going strong after a few months. && just an idea, if you want any jewels/gems/etc on them you can use support glue and stuff from just about any craft store. Just be careful to only get glue under whatever it is you're attaching to the shoes cause support glue does glow under black/UV lights.

I agree with that, any time I've bought shoes that are "pretty" "blinged" on even over $60 they break...fast... buy the plain ones then get creative... If the platform is clear you can carefully lift the sole pad and fill them with whatever you want, glitter, dollar bills, poker chips (fun noise lol), jingle bells, or even movement leds! Use good epoxy glue to reattach the sole pad and you have fancy shoes for less that WILL LAST! Also pleasers tend to run a size small because they are narrow so if you have to order online keep this on mind... I've been doing this for 15 years after having really expensive shoes break after one wear and no returns allowed you learn fast what works and how to do your own! Hope this helps you all!

I have been dancing for 12 years and my favorite quality stiletto is Ellie. They are amazing quality and I have never had a heel or strap break. I use them for Glitter Heels and over the last 3 years and thousands if orders only 1 strap has ever broke. They also have really nice padded soles, haha, even my Mom recently said wow they are so padded, no wonder you love dancing in them!

I'm really rough on my Ellies, I mean, I abuse them. show them no mercy. the only that happened was the rubber on the bottom came loose. I glued it and its fine now.
