Branching off and starting MY OWN Pole Party business...

I'm branching off from Brown Bag parties (was doing pole parties with them) and am starting to get together stuff to begin my own business. There is a LOT of legal stuff I need to do first and if ANYONE has tips, ideas, etc, on what to do, what to buy, etc, please fill me in. I already know I will need a business license, a legal waiver they will have to sign at parties (too bad I can't just copy Brown Bag's lol), insurance (just liability?), and... ? I'd love the help. I'm scared about this new venture but at the same time I'm excited too. 🙂

Welcome to independent instructing! You've got all your necessities covered. I just wanted to add - get a website 😀 Also get a waiver for photography too - this will enable you to legally use people pictures on your website. Try to take as many pictures as possible too, Make some videos of you dancing. Even grab a couple friends and shoot a mock party so that people can see what they are. Also, if you have return clients be sure to send them an email of your new venture and outline what is new and different. Best wishes!!!!!

thats so funny that this post was recently added as have been looking into starting a pole buisness around here (there is zilch in this area as far as studios/lessons ect. i had been looking into a studio, but got to be overwhelming fast (trying to get reputable information on the legal/buisness side of things so thought maybe in home pole lessons. any info/resources/websites ect would be greatly appreciated! 🥂

just typed in a bunch of variations of " how to start a pole studio/buisness, but didn't get much out of it. well if anyone comes across maybe even franchise oppurtunites i would apprectiate any point in the right direction. thanks! 🌸

Hi there!! I'm so glad I came across this thread, as I have been wanting to do the same thing!! I've noticed a lot more ppl asking for in home parties/lessons in my area, and I'd love to be able to provide that for them. I know someone out there has a business model for this type of thing - no sense in re-inventing the wheel! Anyone found anything?! I'm so keen on finding out exactly what I need to start this happening... 🙂 Cheers for the inspiration, L. xxx

I've been researching the same thing. Poleaddiction.com has a book you can buy, detailing how to start a pole business. I've only had time to page through it so far, but it seems really useful. Please keep us updated on what you find out and how it goes. Good luck!!!

My business is going great! Been doing it since January. I do in-home parties with my Lil Mynx and have had tons of success. I have about 4 to 5 parties a month which is just enough for me, since I have 3 kiddos to take care of as well.

I've been doing parties for 5 years and would be more than happy to share any info or answer questions. Feel free to send me a message if you'd like. One of the biggest tips from my experience is to invest in a good quality stage pole if at all possible. I've been very thankful to have them on many occasions. When I started I used a Platinum Stages super pole I had far too many occasions where I couldn't accommodate vaulted ceilings, had a hard time finding studs in their ceiling, and had the awkward times when the pole would get stuck, and I don't have to carry around a stepladder or worry about damaging ceilings or poles falling. I currently use an X-stage and have top extensions cut to different heights and it has been so much easier - I'm set up in under 10 minutes. Another plus is that you can iron on your company name/logo/website on the fabric side panels which will be visible in party photos the guests take and gets you free advertising when they share the photos with friends.

Those are great ideas! I want to get a free standing pole eventually, but right now cannot afford it. Ive had a few people who wanted parties but didn't have ceilings for them. Bummer.

Where do you find your cleints for the in home pole parties? I am getting into this too and have only had 2 parties- one for a friend and another for one of her friends! I have a website and did flyers but don't know where to put them becaseu i dont want to offend anyone( theres a drawing of a fully clothed woman standing by a pole on it!). I approached wedding sites too but no bites yet. What else can i do to get some custys besides hand out flyers directyl to women i think might be interested outside the mall and what not?
