So today for the first time I really noticed that my belly button ring was knocking the pole every-time. Should I just remove it when I practice?

I wear a small barbell and don't seem to have any problems. If it does not bother your belly then I would not worry about it.
In our studio students are required to remove or at least tape over/pad all body piercings - especially those that are exposed. There have been incidents with the Xpoles where someone had gotten a piercing caught in the hole in the pole. One of my students had it happen to her at home as well once. We've never had a problem in class but not going to take that chance just in case. Also heard of one woman who banged her breast into the pole with a piercing so hard she wound up with mastitis from it. It may be the freak occasional accident but not worth the risk in my opinion.

I know...it was even worse though as BOTH incidents I heard of were during inverts! One at the top of the pole about to go into a deathlay and she was stuck!

😮 OMG! OUCH! My mind is made up. I will now start taking it out. Not afraid of it closing up. That would be such a horror story. What if you didn't quite notice and then it completely ripped it right out.
I guess this is a little after the fact, but I was going to say, I've never had a problem with any one of my piercings getting in the way. However I also don't have an x-pole which means there are no holes in my pole. The only issue I've ever had with my body mods would be discomfort from poling too soon after getting pierced. ('Downstairs' jewelry + learning the wrist seat = ouch!) But the thought of having something tear out is scary enough that I would definitely be at least taping any exposed piercings up before poling!
OMG the THOUGHT of that happening just completely HORRIFIES me. 😮 😮 😮 I say tape ur belly! Wear a padded bra! Wear a maxi pad! Hell, wear some Depends! lol how the hell could you get yourself unstuck in an ivert???? oh god i dont even want to go there 😲
Just to be clear...this wasn't about the shock value...but a real warning about something that may only rarely happen but isn't worth it even if it only happens to you once! We do keep surgical tape and large bandaids in the studio for students to use to cover piercings but the problem is they frequently do not stick well. 🙁
I am always bruised, scratched, burnt, sore, overtired or something when I go to pole (otherwise I never would, I am a klutz). I hate that piercings (except ears) get rejected by my body...but if I got a body piercing and poled with it, with my luck something horrific would happen. Bandaids always come right off. I use a bandaid or a dressing and then tape. A LOT of that papery surgical tape over the top well beyond the bandaid area. Plastic sticks to the pole and doesn't want to let go and fabric tape edges always stick to the pole and rip off. I have had to tape up my aerial rope burns so they don't rip open on pole or other aerial apparatus in public. At home I don't care (I'm a tough cookie) because it's just me and my pole. Papery tape should be applied right before going on the pole so the edges aren't rolled up from wear already. It will stick to some dressings and will take the dressing off with it when you peel it off when you're done, so make sure if it's something that needs to be dressed still that you have a replacement. Don't leave paper tape on to shower or wear one set for more than a day or it will start to stink. I haven't had problems, but tape can potentially make for slippage on pole if it's on a contact point. I'd also cover up or take out exposed piercings because the jewellery can scratch up the pole!

Bashing that area firmly could cause a piercing to tear slightly because of how delicate the tissue is, which could lead to rejection, which no one wants down there.

I've only bashed my lady part jewelry on the pole once and that was because I was humping it, LOL. I probably shouldn't have been doing that anyway 🙄 I'm scared to death of hurting it in a bumslide so I always chicken out on that move but it hasn't caused any other problems as far as pole is concerned. My navel either, although I have heard of people getting theirs caught in the hole in the pole. That actually happened to Karol once. Ouch 😲

I'd also cover up or take out exposed piercings because the jewellery can scratch up the pole! This was my main reason. I put my pole on a pedistool, he is like a god to me. So why would I want to hurt him ❓ hehe 😈
Omg I was worried about this. None of mine are exposed. But I'll definetly take the advice on the padded bra but not the maxi pad or the depends lmao!!! There has got to be another solution. Jean shorts???

I guess if you're actually worried about hurting yourself you'll just have to do new moves that involve that region slower. I know you can get the bendy plastic-like jewelry for piercings like the tongue - maybe you can find them for the down-low, too? Like I had said, the only real issues I've had were because I started poling too soon after getting pierced and wasn't fully healed yet (dumb, I know). Other than that I might pinch myself a little bit doing certain stuff, but I'm so used to everything hurting from pole that I just tell myself to toughen up and try to be a bit more careful the next time. 🙂
I haven't had any trouble with mine (VCH and Triangle) even when dancing skyclad. 😈 one of the places i took lessons from though told me a horrific tale of a stripper that worked there slitting her clit in an invert on the pole while at the top of the pole 😲 😲 😲 😲 and she DIDN't have piercings.
I went to Vegas in Oct of 09 and I got a new ring but by the new yr it was gone because of the pole. 😳 As i was working on my spilts and let holds the new ring pulled and had to be taken off but after I learn to get all the way to the ground I may do it again. 😢
