Best way to un-slipperize you pole?

My pole's coming home next weekend and I'm wondering what's the best product to wipe it down with during use as my hands get sweaty and make the pole slippery. Any difference between using alcohol wipes or just a towel with some dabbed on alcohol? Also, whats the consensus on the product "dry hands"? i've seen it around a lot, is it actually effective? how often does it have to be re-applied and can it be used in conjuction with the alcohol? thx!

Actually, "de-slipperize" sounds better.

What finish is your pole? Mine are chrome. What works well for me is spraying 91% alcohol and using a micro fiber cloth. A few of my students like using white vinegar. It seems to help their sweat issues a bit. For grip, I like using Dry Hands for spins and some holds. If I need extra grip in holds, I use iTac. Aloe helps a bit too in winter when my skin gets really dry and therefor slick.

I use a fabric steamer to clean all of my new poles. Takes all the junk off really well.

I was thinking about steaming my pole with my iron, but would it be ok to do if there are any nicks in the chrome? I don't want to cause any issues with the coating.

This is just what has worked with my poles. I don't have any large nicks or chips, just some scratches, so if your finish is already in poor shape I don't know what to tell you. You are not going to leave the steam on the pole. Also you don't rub the pole or even touch it with the iron or steamer. You put the steamer close to the pole, then wipe till it's nice and dry. I think the biggest issue would be if your pole was kept in a very damp place, or if you cleaned your pole with lots of water often without drying well.

Thanks guys, good suggestions. My only concern is that the pole will be in our bedroom which is close to the bathroom since our bathroom is inside the bedroom (small apt), and gets damp/steamy after showers. we of course have a fan running and the AC unit as well to help circulate the air so hopefully that will be sufficient.

I use to use Windex, then found out it leaves a film, so I use alcohol 91% now. I really like it except for the smell.

Also, I have 2 chrome poles and use microfiber towels with the alcohol.
