I'm dying to upgrade my pole videos - iPhone is just not cutting it. I was looking at the Go Pro since it seems to the be the best for tight spaces. (Is it too much to ask to get my whole body in the shot???) But it seems a bit overkill. People do some crazy stuff with those cameras and I would just be propping it up in the corner of my bedroom or studio. What do you recommend?

i would love to find a good camera for pole too!
I have a little FlipHD camera and the "tripod" (it's only a few inches long) I have has these crazy bendy legs so it can hang anywhere. I haven't tried if for pole yet... But I'm planning on it. I have a Nikon CoolPix that no one ever sees the videos from. It takes decent videos, but I need a tripod LOL. Anyway, my point was just that you should just play with some at different stores until you find one you feel will work best for YOU.
I have a Flip Video also but I find the width limiting. I'm always having to adjust my gorilla pod all funny just to get the perfect angle. I got my hubby a Go Pro for his bday recently and he insists that I use it for pole because it shoots much wider.
I have a Go Pro and it really is great for getting a lot into your shot! It kind of has a bit of a fish-bowl lens effect - I really don't find it impacts my videos much at all, just the odd picture where I notice it a lot. The one thing that I think is really important for you to know is that it's not great for low-light filming. You will still get your shot, but it looks grainy and in low definition - even if you're shooting on the 1080p mode! The camera is really built for outdoors and underwater activities in that sense. I really love my GoPro, so I hope this doesn't seem like I'm against it. I just agree that it can be a bit of overkill if it's not going to work out as well as you hope!

I have been wanting the Canon (vixia) legria mini. Has anyone tried that video camera?
I just finished a tone of video camera research and I had it narrowed down to the gopro or drift ghost black edition I ended up deciding on the drift ghost black. I used it for the first time this week. My reasoning behind that choice was the battery life. I watched I think every video available on YouTube comparing the 2 lol and always came back to preferring the picture out of the drift. I find it super easy to operate. And I can still frame my video on the computer and take out a snap of a picture that isn't blurry if I'm doing a move on spin the screen on the side of it is great for lining up shots it is a little bigger then the gopro but not by much. Hope that helps
Thanks everyone! I've got a place to start on my research while I save up. Allyson - that tripod is amazing, I have one. It bends perfectly around the empty poles at the studio and I can get an awesome angle. I'll let you gals know what I end up getting :)
