Best Shoes for Climbing?

I'm new to pole and I'm looking for a good pair of shoes that can endure climbing and provide some grip. I was really excited about a pair of Pleaser shoes I bought, but after just a few minutes of climbing the patent tore a huge hole! So bummed! I loved the look of these but obviously these aren't going to hold up for long. Would the plastic kind be better? I'm not into boots, so I probably won't go that route. Thanks for any help!
