Im working on my costume for Atlantic Pole Competition in May. I have an idea but I need to find a bathing suit pattern. Im having the hardest time finding one and im not that confident enough in my sewing abilities to create my own pattern. My costume is going to be very 60's inspired. Any good directions to find a pattern I can use?

In Germany we have an onlinestore for functional fabric and patterns: http://www.funfabric.com/halli.php?03 They sell a bunch of patterns not only for bathing suits but also patterns for figure skating, ballet, gymnastics, ... Best and most patterns are from "Jalie" and "Kwik-Sew". It says that Jalie is a Canadian Company, so you should be able to find those in the US as well. I don't know where Kwik-Sew is from but it might be something Scandinavian (I'm not shure though).

I'm terrible at sewing. The last patterns I bought I got by sifting through those giant catalogues at the fabric store. I don't even know if they do it like that anymore.

take some underwear, and cut them where they are sewn , then use that for your pattern , but add a good cm to the border!
I saw some off of kwik-sew. Im pretty sure the swimsuit patterns should be out by now since I used a swimsuit pattern to create my cover up for more of my recent costumes. I am looking for something similar to Honey Ryders bathing suit from Dr. No. Im going to do a different color since it would look better against my skin color.

Kwik sew is good. Stretch and sew is another company that does knit patterns but I prefer kwik sew. I'd also try Ebay for vintage sewing patterns. Or do a search for Blue Gardenia or The Blue Gardenia. I buy a lot of vintage pasterns from them. Also I've seen some vintage swim suit patterns on Etsy. As for fabric, I'd try Spandex World. Reasonable prices and lots and lots of variety.

Look at the Kwik sew ones. They not only have bathing suits but also ice skating ensembles that can easily be adjusted for pole. Jalie is also good and have a very wide size range from kids to adults in the one pattern.
Go for the Jalie patterns, they are really good for activewear!
Just remember that if you end up with a true vintage pattern, it might not be made for today's fabrics. I remember having to alter a cute little 60s pattern swimsuit for double stretch lycra. Probably definitely going to be easier to find a modern pattern for a vintage look.
