sorry guys-- when the forum changed i think the old links were broken. here is a link that describes hollow body in detail: http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/advice/t-44386.html here is a picture of a hollow body: http://math2033.uark.edu/wiki/images/f/fb/Hollow_body.jpg basically, hollow body is having your abs engaged and squeezing through the butt at the same time so that your pelvis is slightly tucked under and your lower back is very slightly rounded. it's the exact same position as when you are in a true handstand: abs and butt both engaged.
Congratulations Shellectra - AWESOME! There is nothing like the feeling you get when you nail a move that has eluded you!! There are quite a few that I have been trying to get for monthS!!!- fortunately the ayesha wasn;'t one of them and my elbow grip was sweet straight away, but some of the girls in my class - we are pretty half and half - use a forearm hold instead of an elbow grip. That feels totally cock-eyed to me. amazing how everyones anatomy is different. Now, if only I could master the split grip....that's next on my hit list...🙂
Thanks Amy! I got on the floor and felt what hollow seems to mean, now to see what it means when I'm upside down! I don't remember much when I'm up there, just hoooold onnn haha Thanks Polefit!! It's not at all a pro looking elbow grip but I was just stoked to get the legs off and to feel my body hold itself up.... to be honest it felt easier once I was off the pole than lots of the times I have been in Caterpillar! Weird! Now with practise hopefully I will get used to that feeling and do more with it.... I wanted to show hubby how I got my legs off today but I am too sore from the other day and couldn't even hold up into Caterpillar with my sore bruised upper legs :(
I managed a better Aysha today with forearm grip, my first one ever!! Veena - Any suggestions to improve it?? Balancing was much easier than last time, there wasn't really a fear of falling back for me yay! http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/180137_10150193211183206_532948205_9007524_1013118_n.jpg

good for you Shellectra!
Thanks! Hope I'm doing it right, it felt comfortable and I found a balance point and held it for a while
Ooh! Thanks everyone for their help with this! I found the elbow grip closer to your knees made a HUGE difference to my latest attempt! I had my friend spot me during class and I was able to keep my body away from the pole a bit before swinging forward to rest against the pole (scared more than anything else!)
Yay good for you Michelle!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's fab!! I think elbow grip looks cooler, I will try elbow grip closer to knees as you say, I haven't focused on that yet!

hey ladies-- i just posted a blog entry about the elbow grip ayesha with some tips! if you want to check it out, it's here: http://aerialamy.com/blog/?p=1957 =)
Finally I got Aysha am soo happy have wanted this move for a long time, got the elbow grip, but really want split grip now!! Also found i could hold a straight edge for about a second lol! in the forearm grip yay! Any tips for the forearm grip straight edge?
Congrats on your move! Not an easy one ... The best way to find stability and not shake when holding your Ayesha, is to find your center and of course arm strength to hold it steady. Also using the push and pull method. The hand pushing and the elbow grip pulling. Also, your legs have to look like if you're sitting down when you open your legs to balance your body.... Keep working at it... It took me two months to nail it perfectly. :)
I got forearm grip first but now feel safer in an elbow grip - not sure if that's weird!! I like that in an elbow grip I can hold my body out further from the pole, I feel stable that way, whereas with forearm grip I am kept closer to the pole and feel like I might tip backwards (which I did a lot when learning, oops) Split grip aysha seems impossible to begin with but once you find your 'center' of balance its easy!!! I got it in a few months after elbow grip. Actually learning the cartwheel mount into aysha helped cos you start with split grip and kick up into position and this helped my body learn where to stop and hold. I couldn't learn where my center was from just inverting and getting into split grip from there (maybe im weird). I can do it from an invert now but only cos I learnt from a cartwheel how to find my balance
