Ayasha from a fallen angel

Hi everyone. I just love ,love, love this new move that i have been seeing. Ayasha split grip from a fallen angel. Here is a link to it @ 1;10. Can someone break it down for me. I can do a fallen angel and a split grip ayasha but keep falling on my head when I try this move. Cool I have never seen that before! If you look close you'll see she is using the Twisted grip to move into the aysha...so you will need to have the flexibility in your body to twist into the TG position from the CAR/ fallen angle and you will need to be comfortable with your twisted grip. Be careful with its move, if your wrist, elbow, or shoulder have discomfort don't do it.

Hi Joni, I recently learnt and have been teaching this move at my studio (we call it the "spinderella") so i'll try to break it down for you if you like. You go into the fallen angel and grip the pole with both hands behind your butt like you're going to do a bow and arrow. Then place whichever hand you have on the bottom in your split grip down underneath your head (I invert on the left, so my right hand is down). Make sure you place it thumb down (not in a baseball grip). You then start moving your butt away from the pole. Keeping your feet on the pole to keep your balance, you turn your head and shoulders to the left, twisting until you're facing the pole (this is the part that may hurt your shoulder if you're not flexible enough as Veena said). Once you're in position facing the pole, take your legs off into a V and you should be in your twisted grip aysha! Hope this helps@

Thanks Veena and Nickilee. Nickilee, is both hand thumbs down. My stronger dominant hand is my right hand, Is that suppose to be on top or bottom. When i do my handspring split grip into butterfly, I use my dominant hand on top. so with this move,I was using my dominant hand on top but should it be a baseball grip with thumbs up or also thumb down like the bottom hand ❓ Also if my right hand is on top ,do I turn around on the right side? I really appreciate your advice as I want to nail this cool move. 🤸 Thanks,joni

Okay, i had to go into the studio to practice this, just top make sure I could go through it step by step! If you normally have your dominant right hand up top when you do the split grip aysha, leave this hand on top. It will be thumb up and your left hand will be thumb down, reaching your arm down below your head. If your right hand is on top, you will have to turn to the left. When you're actually doing it, it's like you're turning towards your bottom hand. Give it a go and let me know if you need anymore advice! 😀

I've seen Karol do this move a lot...and she showed me how to do it...still not as fab as hers yet!!! It's very akward at first! 😀

You did it fab too Roxy. I tried this recently and found it quite easy but you need to be able to do the bow and arrow split grip. I would work from that first, work on split grip aysha and then work on combing the two moves. Does anyone know the actual origins of this combination? I saw an older video of Robyn (robbin?) Nobbin on youtube doing it and I know Jenyne has done it, also Felix. I'd like to know who created the move - I actually thought it was Karol but after some sleuth work across forums I found some older references to the combination. As far as I can find out this is not a named move but a combination. any info?

Hi everyone again, So I managed to turn around into the ayasha from the fallen angel/cross ankle release. But my body was right up against the pole in the ayasha pose and have very little control. And i'm sure it looked as awkward as it felt. 😳 I drop straight down from the bow and arrow then turned my body around. My butt was not away from the pole like it is suppose to be in the ayasha pose. How do i transition turn into the ayasha with my butt away from the pole ❓ Thanks,joni

I'd like to know who created the move - I actually thought it was Karol but after some sleuth work across forums I found some older references to the combination. As far as I can find out this is not a named move but a combination. any info? Ozzy was doing it back when she visited us last year on a spinning pole and then she slowly lowered herself down. I also remember TriplexBexx doing it in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBJDDU9a5Sc posted in May. I think its been around for a while, just hasn't gotten lots of attention til now.
