arieal shouldermount?

Hi everyone i was wondering if any of you could describe how to do an arieal shouldermount? (a shouldermount from halfway up the pole? rather than from the ground) Its a move iv not been able to work out how to get into nor able to find any tutorials on it. My best guess is you can do it from a superman or something similar is that right? 🤔 Also to make matters more complicated for myself i have a very unusual hand grip when doing the shouldermount normally, i use whats called the chinese forward grip (you can find a pic of this on http://www.wikipole.org under pole moves and shoulder mount) i find other grips impossible for me, but im wondering how the hell i would get into this grip from on the pole??? 😕 Pehaps this could be a new lesson idea veena? 😀 (hint hint lol) xx

YOu can do an aerial shouldermount from a chinese grip but the prolem there is getting into your grip while you are up on the pole. learned claw grip or cupped grip is probably best because you can transitions easiest into position with these grips. I also hard the hardest time with aerial sm. So here's what I did: I worked on sm from the ground - no kicking or swinging I worked on aerial basic inverting with straight legs - no swinging I works on sm split - coming back down rather than mounting the pole keeping my legs straight Once I could do all of those things my abs were strong enough to get me up there. The best way to do aerial sm is out of the figurehead. You can get into it from a climb that way you aren't so tired from doing all those supermans 😀 For me this is such a use or lose it move too. I can lose my aerial sm so fast!

My twisted grip shouldermount I find is my strongest but it is not as smooth of a transition for me getting into it from aerial. So I had to learn also to do a cupped grip as Elisabeth's advance dvd from Liveonce studio shows how to get into it beautifully ,smooth and fluidly from a spinning side climb and just spin into the position to aerial invert into the SM. Now it is my strongest and fluid way to get into an aerial sm. 🥂

I still can't do aerial SM from superman. I climb and then go to hood ornament so I get a good leg grip going. From there I can go to pretty much any SM grip, although not every transition is as smooth and/or pretty.. But what Charley says is so right! If you can do al the things she mentioned, your abs will be totally ready. You might also add doing SM from sitting on the floor, preferably with straight legs.

thanks charley, joni and e-vamp 😀 Charley i can do normal shouldermount (no kicking), air invert (no swinging) and shouldermount v and split just fine so im confident i have the ab strength for it (hopefully! 😀 ) My main problem was trying to picture in my head how to get into position for an air shouldermount, what move id have to do before hand ect, so you think figurehead would be the best bet then? Another question! whats the best way to get into the figurehead? dont think iv tried that either. If anyone has an youtube vids or vids on here of them doing it it would really help me (im the kind of girl who needs to see a move over and over to try and work it out) thanks 😉

I just taught the hood ornament to figurehead a couple weeks ago out of a climb - I like this way because it's less tiring if you are trying a move over and over and over 😂 😂 😂 which is how I learn things. Starts at 1:07 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blRViiIOMlY E-vamp mentioned hood ornamanent and thats the first move we do before figure head that is the easiest way to get into a figurehead because you have leg and armpit grip and can hang out there for a second. I love hood ornament so pretty!!!!

I don't really know about the YT vids. But to help you search: this move is usually called either aerial shoulder mount or air shoulder mount. I hope you find what you're looking for! Good luck!

I love hood ornament so pretty!!!! I know, right!?!! It looks fantastic, and I was so surprised at how easy it is too! Great way to give yourself a moment to gather your strength/catch your breath. Great vid, btw!

Another huge part of an aerial shoulder mount is the actual shoulder strength...the entire shoulder girdle. If you get into figure head and you find you are dropping down at the shoulders AT ALL, you probably will not be able to invert to the SM. You must be able to hold your shoulders down and back (engaged) while suspended in front of the pole.

Must try... Been meaning to take a vid of me doing them on a taller pole. Much smoother now... heh heh.

At about 3.17 I do a chinese forward grip shouldermount to tammy, to figurehead to aerial chinese forward grip shouldermount for ya: http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4934 . Hope that's helpful? It may be possible for superman, but I couldn't do it.
