Any instructors who don't own their own studio?

I am currently interested in teaching. I teach classes sporadically now but I would like to find a nice pole home to join. If you are teaching but don't own your own studio, how did you go about finding your current pole home? Did you approach them or did they approach you? I living the metro Atlanta area and I am certified. I love pole and enjoy teaching, nothing better than seeing a student get a spin that they've been working on or finally being able to climb! :)

Well I'm also in the atlanta area and I notice the I instructors in the studio are usually student graduates that passed their level 6 or whatever the highest level that studio teaches. Then they usually sit in our a few drop In courses n classes to get the teaching aspect of it. I'm on the same boat as you, even studio is kinda far from me also so I train at home. I would never teach at a studio that I had not attended just because I want to know if my style would fit in with what the studio's style is.

I started teaching at the beginning of the year, at the studio where I had been taking classes. I took classes there for a little over a year, and when a teaching position opened up, I was asked if I would be interested. Like Chem said, it was perfect, because I already knew I would fit in there, and what this studio's style was. Good luck with your teaching aspirations!!

I'm not so much worried about style, I can adapt to any method. I left my old studio because I was unhappy. So that wasn't an option but like my granny says 'there's more than one way to skin a cat' a studio in atl posted on fb they were looking for instructors a while back but I was certified then.

I work at a studio I don't own, I love being an employee and I work for some amazing people...I also only work for one studio and dont teach at others

I meant I left the studio I trained at before I got certified. I wasnt teaching there

I've taught at 3 studios now and been teaching for a little over 3 years. 2 of my teaching positions were with local studios and now I teach and work for myself with my own studio. Both of the local studio positions I actively sought out. Mainly the first teaching position I made the initial contact with the owner and expressed my desire to become an instructor. She groomed me into the type of instructor she wanted representing her business and even though we eventually didn't see eye to eye on some things, she did an excellent job branding her business and making it what it was. The second teaching job was presented to me after I left my first one. I was looking to become a student again and because of my experience I was asked to begin teaching for their facility. I gave a lot of my time and energy and eventually realized I wanted to pursue my own projects and put effort into something that I would actually see the benefits from my hard work. If I could offer any advice, I would contact studios and put yourself out there. Make sure you attend some of their classes too to make sure they have something going on that you can see yourself representing. It's like buying a house, you have to be able to visualize yourself in your new "home" in order for you to take the next steps and making it your own. Good luck!
