ANOTHER POPCORN CEILING Q, but...

I've asked this before many times on the board in the past and never got a straight answer... I have popcorn ceilings. I have small popcorn things on the ceiling, but someone once told me that it would be best if I take a wet cloth and wet the popcorn around where the dome will be on the ceiling and then take a small razor and kinda scrap it off...That way all the sides of the dome are flush against the ceiling... Am I right?

I don't do anything to my popcorn ceiling prior to putting my pole up...it does knock off some of the popcorn, but i've never had an issue with it being uneven at the ceiling.

So it doesn't matter then? I'd rather just let it fall off itself than to scrap at it...Thanks!!

yeah, i never did anything to my popcorn ceiling either. what's the point of spending your time scraping the ceiling when it'll fall off on it's own when you put it up? lol. plus, if there is an imbalance in your ceiling (and you have an xpole) the base will adjust to the difference.....(did that make sense?) hope that helps! 👍

I had popcorn ceilings in my old home and never had to do anything to them, 🌸 It was never a problem.

My Xpole also holds fine with my popcorn ceiling ( I also asked here at SV before I ordered it, to make sure it would not destroy my ceiling 👍 ). My leasing office would kill me if I scraped the popcorn off the ceiling 😨
