Aerial Silks

Hey All! It was my birthday on saturday, and from my parents I am getting some aerial silks (soooooo excited! 🥂 ). I live on a very small island where you can't learn this sort of thing without flying to the UK or france, so my only option is to learn at home. I work in paediatrics in a special needs school, and there are heavy loading ceilling fixtures for the kids to put high swings up, and crash-mats so its the perfect set-up 😀 . What I am going to be massively lacking in is some guidance and teaching as there are no instructors. I know some of you have had a go at the silks, can anyone recommend any good youtube vids, or videos or books etc that would help? Thanks in advance! Annie

Check this out: http://www.circusaerials.com/Manuals.html, maybe it would benefit you to purchase these? I know there is no substitution for proper instruction though. Just be super careful!!! Also on my youtube (http://www.youtube.com/jnybeth) account, I have a playlist called "Aerial ideas," with short videos of various tricks that I have learned or want to learn. Most of them show very clearly, what the person is doing as far as wrapping and manipulating the fabric. If you have a youtube account, befriend me and that way we can send/share video ideas. I am constantly sending Bertysbooboo and Charley vids of ideas of stuff to learn!

thats awesome, thanks! I've found a french silks manual that i've ordered, but those ones you've found look good so I might have a look at those too. I've just subscribed to you on youtube! 🙂 Don't worry, I plan to be super careful, I've done a bit of trapeze before, and I used to do acrobatics and gymnastics and have had lots of injuries in the past so I'm def plan on being more careful than I used to be! Plus I think Gsylass is going to learn with me so i'll have a spotter. If its any help to you i've also found silkworms, its a glossary of silks moves (a bit like wikipole) which looks like it could be handy. I am SO looking forward to learning this! x
