About faces...

...No, not falling on them, but emoting with them while pole dancing! I have a very hard time knowing what kind of facial expressions I ought to be using when I am on the pole. I don't want to wear a goofy smile, unless I'm using goofy music to match. I've seen good pole dancers doing wonderful movements, and the smiles they wore while performing those movements made the whole routine look ridiculous to me. There are also pole dancers who make great use of smiles. But likewise, I don't want to wear a seductive face because I'm personally more enthusiastic about the acrobatic side of pole dancing than the erotic counterpart to it. (With that said, I consider stripping and exotic dance a respectable artform, but it's just not the particular approach to pole that I prefer for myself.) So having said all that, I don't want to wear a blank face either. Sometimes I'll use winces or expressions of suffering (and no, it's not because of pole burn!), smirks, gasps, or try to wear an expression of longing, but I don't know if it always comes across. Anyway, I just want to know, what do you all do with your faces while you are performing a pole routine? Speaking just for myself, I'm often so concentrated on what I'm doing choreographically and acrobatically that I forget to do any kind of emoting whatsoever most of the time. I'm trying to correct a few errors in my dance technique and that happens to be one of them! What is your experience? What have you been told on this subject? What do you like to see others do with their faces while pole dancing? Have you found any answers or solutions on this subject? I am interested in what you all have to say.
