Mornin' Veeners ... Someone else might have posted this link, but Reuters (news group) asked the question: Is pole dancing a sport? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/12/stripper-poles-used-for-f_n_758502.html onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The idiocy in the comments was disheartening -- pole fitness is a sport, with elements that incorporate gymnastics, weightlifting, and cardio, but b/c of its salacious origins, folks just can't get past the "giggle-ooo" factor. Dimwits. You try a 4-min routine incorporating the butterfly-knee hold-shoulder mount-allegra-eros-tornado in 6-inch stilettos and let me know how you did with that. ๐ Sure it's sexy, and it's athletic and tough and rigorous and requires dedication and the only fitness regimen I've ever stuck with. I've hyperextended my elbow and fractured toes and had both knees swell up and pulled hamstrings and suffered more bruises than I can count and I can't WAIT to get back on the pole. I'm almost 40, and in the best shape since ... well, since ever. I don't like to work out. Don't do treadmills or spinning or curling or Zumba or yoga or pilates. But I discovered pole fitness in 2007 and loved it ever since. Sorry for the rant, but pole fitness is like the very best thing EVER (well, after chocolate) and having my sport (yes, d@mmit, my SPORT ๐ ) maligned irritates me. And it's not even noon. OK, feel better now. Thank you. Happy Poling!
