12 foot Ceiling height , what pole to buy?

What pole to purchase for 12 foot Ceilings ? I have only ever owned X pole and I really liked it, but I moved and had to sell my X pole and I now have 12 foot ceiling. I am very confused on what to do. I contacted X pole and they told me to build down the ceilings to be 11 foot 8 inches so I could order the 40mm pole, but I rent this house and I am not sure if that would damage the ceiling or if the manager would be happy about that. I also have a attic space above so I am so confused about how to do all of this safely and find the stud. I am totally alone in this matter as I have yet to find the correct studio to take classes from in my new town. Any comments help thank you !

I'm from Nola as well! 12ft ceilings sound like it would make a gorgeous pole space. This may sound silly, but have you measured your ceilings yet? I'm renting too, and my ceilings were advertised to be 9ft, and so I was really concerned about if I should buy an extension because I have an xpole as well. But they're really 8' 9" so I'm happy that I checked before buying the extra part. I've also heard of some polers cutting a circle out of wood just large enough to fit the dome of the xpole into and using it in between the dome and the ceiling. It would help to prevent ceiling damage as well as compensate for those four inches (:

HI Destiny Nice to meet you and thank you for the response. Yes the ceilings are 12 feet high. I have measured them. I am looking into platinum poles as they offer longer poles that are perm fixtures and seem safer. I just am not sure if they come in 40 mm. I have asked my old teacher in California and am waiting for a response. I agree its a great pole space , however its a bit of a headache and costly since the ceilings are so high. I would do the cut out circle but I do not think that is stable enough due to the stud being so far away??? That is the part that is really confusing me. I am not sure if that type of pole would be safe to use since the ceiling stud is no where near the cut out circle. Did that make sense lol ? :)

platinum Stages doesn't have 40mm poles, but they do have 38mm poles! :) They also sell reinforced poles for higher ceilings (I think X pole does too.)

Do you know about Pole Perfect Fitness in Nola? They are looking for instructors. As far as the 12 ft pole goes be careful. Nola has a lot of plaster ceilings.

I really like my 45 mm titanium gold x pole. I've used it at the height of over 12 feet even. I like using the mount instead of the dome for the taller poles.

@AerialGypsy Thank you. I looked into the Pro Platinum Stages perm 38mm poles and I think that is going to be the pole I choose. The reinforced perm fixture makes me feel safe and it offers the height and girth size i am looking for. My hands are extremely small and I have used 45 mm and 50mm before and it tends to hurt my hands, even after lots of practice. :) @azblanco nice to meet you, hope to see you aroundd town. @Kimberh, i recently found Pole Perfect Fitness on the net and it was the next studio I was going to take class at. I also was looking at the Gym downstairs from them. Are you a member? I have had to take over a year off pole due to cost of living in California, so I am really looking forward to getting back in yoga and pole again. :) Thank goodness for Studio Veena! <3 Happy to be apart of such a great community

@Studio Venna Do you think that 38mm at 12 foot will bend a lot? I weigh 105 pounds and am five foot three. I was reading some reviews about taller poles at smaller girths and now I am concerned. LOL. It really is such an art to buy the correct pole for the space you live in. :) thanks so much again for any advise.

Unless it's reinforced then yes I would think so. At 14 feet my 45 mm pole had much more give than at the 11-12 feet it's at now.

This is kinda off the topic but do you guys know if I could use titanium gold extensions to replace the chrome A and B tubes since I damaged their finishes? :-( or any better ideas?

Hello! When I lived in my warehouse I had 4.6m ceilings (15 Feet?) the only option was a one piece pole secured to the floor and ceiling - a pressure mount at that height is too unstable. I would be very wary of putting extensions on extensions! It had three bolts in the concrete floor and two in the beam on the roof. I was also worried about flex especially with brass but Pussycat Pole in Australia reenforce the pole with a central stem. It was a 45 and we had three people on it at one point, steady as a rock! Now I live in a regular apartment so have a more normal sized pole, but the 4.6m "queen" is for sale if anyone is interested :) *apologies for th blantant plug* Always put safety first!

I have a 12' ceiling and Platinum Stages 45mm, which I have installed with pressure mount. If you are going to have a circle between the ceiling an pressure mount, be sure it is secured into the studs. You can get a stud finder at Home Depot, and you should also get a magnetic level to be sure the pole is plumb when installed. There will be minor ceiling damage, but nothing that can't be spackled and painted easily. I inquired about Veena's pole, and they can custom-make something for the height you specify.

I have had a PoleDanzer pole since 2007 (different length pieces were available to suit any ceiling height.) http://www.poledanzer.com/ ; Or the X stages may work for you? Not permanent but a possibility, I have 2 lites as well as my permanent pole. =]

Pole Danzer doesn't do 38 or 40mm. Ly kieu le - Yeah you can use different colored extension. You just need to makes sure it is the same diameter as your other pole.

stages are a good idea but not much room for floorwork. I know this is off topic but u mentioned you have small hands and so do I (i think) 6.5 inch hand span measurement. Im purchasing a new pole since the 50mm hurts my fingers but having second thoughts in ordering a 45mm since it might still be to big. Any suggestions? Thanks

Update the pole finally went up ,and I have been slowly exercising with it for the last week. Thank you for all of your help and advise. It was well worth the wait. Next time I move it will be to a lower ceiling height for sure lol. I start my SV lessons day 1 tomorrow. :) Hope everyone is well.

Oh with a perm mount. I really wanted the 40mm pole but at that ceiling height it was just not a good idea due to bending of pole. :) Love your video you posted. super cool lights. hope to get some similar ones for my room soon.
