Kyrsten - Wait until the poling inflammation goes down. I realized my stretch marks looked like they were getting worse because my thighs were irritated/inflammed. Once the skin calmed down it wasn't so bad.

Yikes! That sounds painful. I have found that applying a bit of baby powder onto the area that will experience the most friction prior to doing the move helps immensely. I do not have any issues with sore skin anymore nor is the talcum powder overwhelming so as to limit my "stickiness" to the pole
I'm on my phone so if I'm honest I couldn't be bothered to read the whole thread, I honestly can't see any serious damage being caused by the pole though. The picture that was posted resembles my inner thighs after pole. I had stretch marks there as a teenager and they are now pretty invisible however they "flare up" after a pole session. They probably just become more visiable temporarily because the skin is so red and sore! Rapid muscle gain and lack of certain vitamins can also cause stretch marks. I've gained some down the backs of my calves.

I know this is an old discussion... But just incase someone still reads this - try emu oil for stretchmarks, I use it on my non poling days, also i derma roll my pregnancy stretch marks and apply coenzyme q10, I buy capsules and use it when I derma roll, seems to be working (and coenzyme q10, though bright orange, doesn't stain my skin and I'm fairly pale). Hope this helps someone :)
Thought I'd pop on here too since this thread got brought back to the spotlight. I was a young mom and totally thought I'd bounce back into shape in like a week (WRONG!) ....but when I did loose the weight is when the stretch marks showed up. I am lucky that the placement isn't that obvious. But at first the skin was very pigmented and I was really upset. It was also sunken in, shiny and have little wrinkles in it. I ended up paying the big bucks for the laser (like 8+ years ago it was more expensive, and there weren't groupons)... and it helped take the pigment out but it can't change the texture of the skin. So I still have areas that look like this: http://www.rafskinna.comhttps://pub-a085b59791bc4c1a94b0a223a67a37d6.r2.dev/wp-uploads/2014/01/how-to-prevent-stretch-marks-during-pregnancy.jpg (just a google image) I do think they they would have faded over time (almost everyone I know who had them faded and look just like mine a year later) and the laser gave me a few weeks of scabs (for like 5 treatments)... so I don't really think it was worth it. Anyway, I have noticed new stretch marks pop up over the years (even before pole) because I've continued to lose weight and get in better shape. Yup. I did P90X and noticed a stretch marks popping up on my boob. (who knew A cups could shrink!)... and they've all faded but they are stilly that shiny/wrinkly texture. It's possible that because pole gets you fit, it causes your skin to be a little loser and that combined with all the sticking and pulling can lead to stretch marks. I have noticed though.. the few on my inner thighs, after something like pole-sits, get more sore than the surrounding healthy skin, and become sort of raised and welt-like... it's probably because the skin isn't really healthy strong skin.

I just want to remind everyone that stretch marks are normal and not something to be shy about and you shouldn't feel less sexy because of them...sooooo many people have them. I notice mine show up more when they have been "pulled" on like during some pole moves and if I sit in the hot tub with jets hitting my skin they will get big, itchy and red, but it goes away by the next day. The best thing I've found is to stay hydrated, mine wrinkle the most when I haven't had enough water. The photo Allyson posted reminded me of one I had taken :)
Wheee, I've got some pole-marks too and somehow it's nice not the be the only one. ;) They are my only stretchmarks so far and hardly noticable because they are as white as my skin (well, they are now. When they were new, they were bright purple xD) and on the inside of my right thigh. I got them from trying to learn the polesit during a very hot summer and thus trying to slather my thighs with dryhands... Too much grip can be bad too. ;) Just like all the bruises I get from pole, they are a part of me now. A sign, that I learned something new (and that it hurt, even when now that seems unbelievable ;)). I don't see them as stretch marks, I see them as my tiger stripes and I am proud. ROAR. :D
