I wouldn’t risk a tattoo until it was completely completely healed. Like where I treat it like any other part of my body and not like a lotion drinking hot spot. It’s been too long for me to remember how long that time period is, though!

amcut is definitely right on that. That healing window can be different for each person, but I would wait until it’s completely returned to normal. DO NOT rush it! Even when it’s just first barely healed over and it finally looks better, it’s still fragile enough that a lot of movement could cost you ink. You’re going to have it on your body forever, give it all the time it needs to heal.

thanks so I figure about 6 weeks for the tat to completely heal and maybe wait another 4 weeks just to make sure…Now since Im sucha newbie to poling I have only practiced spins that doesnt have my body touching the pole ie butterfly and peter pan. But thanks for the info, I’ll just practice my dance moves.

i don’t know if you already have tattoos, but i would give it a few weeks. plus, keeping that area active is pretty important. i recently got a pretty good sized leg piece, and after sitting or sleeping for a while, it hurt sooo bad to walk because i wasn’t moving it enough. just as long as that particular area doesn’t come in contact with the pole. make sure you post some pics! i looove tattoos! i’m sitting here wondering if i like tattoos or the pole more… it’s like choosing between children! lol! and make sure that you keep it moisturized in this harsh weather!

I have two tats. One on my leg and one on my hip. When I got the one on my hip, I hit the pole 3 days after getting it caught the pole right on it and ripped the scab right off which lifted most of the color. Needless to say. I had to have the whole thing recolored weeks later. Don’t pole till it’s healed all the way! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif

I would say see how you feel, but don’t push it. My tatt goes from the instep of my foot all the way up to the ribs currently. When I got the outline done on my ribs I was okay to pole after a few days. When I get the first session of shading done I probably will not be able to pole for a week or two. A lot of it really depends on the area, how fast you heal, and each person has different pain levels they can tolerate.

    Is this your first tattoo?

Yes this will be my first tat. I decided Im going to wait until Memorial Weekend to get it. That will be a nice 10 yr anniversary for me….hehehe hubby says he is going to hate it and wishes I would consider something else but my alternative is to get a monroe, labret and eyebrow piercing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Either way Im going to be tatted and pierced!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

ohhh the fake-mole pierce. ok ok i gotcha lol. some folks do not look cute with that. i hate when those studs/balls are all big and stuff. I just saw this lil girl(meaning she had to be at least 10yrs younger) with one…she thought she was too cute. i just laughed at her though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Yea Im going to get mine really small. Its going to look like a speck of glitter on my face. One of my fb friends has one but hers is like over on her smile lines. I thinks that too far over. I want mine slightly under my nose.

Well the pain probably is like the pain of my other piercing. I yelled "Ow!!!!" the pain was extreme but for a a split second. I say that is the best piercing I EVER got!

As fo my labret, I want mine just like how Mya the singer has hers. Its looks so cute. Mine is going to be on the side of my lip and not in the middle like most people get.

I already talked to my job and Im getting mixed feedback but hey I been with them for 3 years so eff em Im getting my piercings.

    Hi everybody
I know i am new on here but i do have a couple of significant tattoos and i found the best way to care for new ones is to cover them with vasaline regularly throughout the day, keeping them moist and soft, this stops them from scabbing at all, therefore preventing damage, ink loss and pain, it also results in complete healing of the whole tattoo usually well within 3 weeks. Therefore only a limited time loss to using your pole. By using this method of care for my tattoos i was able to have my larger thigh tattoo finished off and shaded within 4 weeks as the outline was completely healed in less than 3 weeks. Hope this helps. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I actually lost ink when I used vaseline because it kept it too wet. And it clogged my pores so terribly my fresh tat got acne all over it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif

I think it depends on your skin. Standard aftercare is plain, unscented Lubriderm or generic equivalent, specifically because it is non-comedogenic (non-pore clogging). If you don’t tend to break out and your skin is tougher, something petroleum-based will probably work fine, but the much more reputable artist I switched to and stuck with through a very large piece always tells me NOTHING petroleum-based, like vaseline or ointments that contain it. I know a lot of ladies on here have sensitive skin, so I wouldn’t want anyone to go slathering their ink in the stuff because you definitely won’t like what it will do to it.

It seems these days EVERYBODY has it on the side, I almost never see them in the middle anymore

I see quite a few with the middle ones but its usually goth or grudgy type folks!

I’ve had a middle-lip-labret for eight years now, and I don’t consider myself the goth/grudgy type. But then again, I might be the exception https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif . Anyway, I love the symmetry of having it in the middle. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
