My pole is bottom mounted as well, but I assumed you were supposed to do it that way.

CapFeb….the dome is NOT supposed to be in teh floor as is shown in the pic Sensual posted.

That does not look safe or good for the dome.  I remember you could do this with the PS poles but you still had the dome on top.  When mounted this way where the most outward force would be only has a small piece up against the ceiling…. NOT safe.

I swear  saw an upside pole in a craigslist ad as well. the instructions clearly say it goes on the ceiling

there is a studio not so far away from my home which has their poles upside down, too. I thought they did this because they had old top-loading poles and so it was easier…
I think it´s also difficult for beginners to land on their feet after a spin or slide down after a basic invert.

    To clarify:

Kendra Wilkinson’s chrome sport pole (which is what I have) is supposed to be bottom loaded. So says her website, and practically any you can order from. Since it’s my first pole (and only) with seams, I assumed all new poles / at home were bottom loaded for convienience.

The old x poles were top loading, but the new ones with joints are bottom loading. X pole does have some way of converting the original x poles to bottom loading though.

oh really? I didn´t know that, I have an old top-loading pole and it´s so annoying… I´m small and have to stand on my tippy toes to put it up 🙁

@emotioncatcher:  I don't know if it is still available but X-Pole used to have a kit to convert the top-loading poles to bottom-loading.  It's a new section that replaces the B pole of a top-loading pole.  I have one and it works great and made it so much easier to put my pole up by myself.  You should get on to X-Pole and see if you can still get one.

Old poles top loading, new poles bottom loading…the problem is putting the dome on the floor.

From what I recall X-Pole invalidates all warranties if you put the pole up this way. I believe it's not structurally sound to put the dome on the bottom?

I have a 50mm pole 🙂 do you remember how much you paid? I anyway want to buy once a second 45mm pole, so I don´t want to invest too much money in my 50mm

I wonder why they would do that. Is it even possible to dance with the dome on the floor?

Emotion – I didn't buy the conversion kit, but I don't imagine it's too much. I believe you buy one pole piece and an adapter.

I have heard of girls doing this to learn the death lay.  With the old top loading poles, it is impossible to learn if you have too much adjuster rod showing, and unsafe to grip on the adjuster cover.  I don't think it would likely hurt the pole if you put it up TEMPORARILY to learn a move, but I wouldn't be doing anything that put a lot of sideways force on the pole (big spins, etc.) because the big dome at the top is a safety feature to keep it from falling down.
