I wax my legs so at the same time also wax my bikini line. If you can swing getting a full brazillian bikini once a month they are amazing and get better over time as hair gets thinner and takes longer to grow in. So other than waxing bikini area, currently shave it all in shower. I use conditioner for several reasons it softens the hair about to shave, moisturizes the area even after washing, and allows me to feel missed spots without looking. I just sit right on the shower floor so I can move around. Can’t wait to start waxing again.

I shave too although I have gotten brazilians before and I did like them, they’re just too expensive for me right now https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I’ve tried those at home bikini wax strips and they don’t really work for me but I am mexican and lebanese so I have very stubborn coarse hair that doesn’t want to come out for me ever! so that could be why they dont work. i heard somewhere that taking a few tums before a wax helps desensitize your skin, someone who gets waxes regularly will have to try that and tell us if it works!

I’m in the process of having ‘kitty’ lasered. Every 6 weeks you go and have the area lasered, hurts less than wax and once the hair has died (takes about 6 times I believe), it doesn’t grow back. Working pretty well so far, already much less hair to deal with.

I bought a Seiko Cleancut several years ago and love love love the thing. It came with a Ladyfair trimmer….basically I trim the hair and then use the Cleancut. I do not get ingrowns with it and it it closer than a razor shave. I will say that it does not work as well if you have finer hair. There is another one that looks similar in design called the Body Bare but I have not ever used that one.

As far as ingrowns go, salicylic acid is what will keep them at bay. Basically go and buy some cheap acne gel or wipes (like Stridex) and use that after shaving.

I have tried about everything – I was a nair girl for at least a year. I would go in the bathroom on Sunday night, nair, paint my nails, pluck eyebrows – basically Lulus spa for about 30min. Ive been shaving weekly but its starting to get annoying quick. I bought a at home wax kit. It worked well, just not fun trying to wax your cash and prizes on your own. That im leaving up to the professionals. Ive not go problem waxing my legs.

I did do a few sessions of electorlyisis many years ago. I was an excellent candidate for it and after a few sessions I have spot on my legs where hair doesnt grow! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

You nair girls are very lucky, it doesn’t work on me at all. Even if I leave it on past the recommended time, it just doesn’t work. I think I must be too dark or something, I imagine it works great for women with light, fair hair. I have an epilator that I find great but am seriously curious to have a proper brazillian done. Not brave enough to go that far with Mr. Epil Silk! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

big fan of this myself! hurts WAY less than waxing and doesnt get itchy when you’re in the "regrowing" phase inbetween laser sessions. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’ve joined the laser crowd too – just had my 2nd session. Nair never worked for me, hairs too thick and coarse. Shaving worked, but I’d have stubble by bedtime which is just not sexy. Waxing worked a treat, although I still had to shave the closest bits as couldn’t rip the wax strips off there. My secret was massaging teething gel into the area first! The waxed areas also got awful ingrown hairs. I’m totally a laser convert, it costs a bomb but when you think about how much you’ll spend on razors/wax in your lifetime it works out cheaper!

i had done SEVERAL electrolysis sessions under my belly button (i have a cursed "happy trail" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif ) many years back and it didnt work… at all https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif . I figured laser was the same deal and would be a waste of money. But laser actually works huh? i’ll look into it. I just hate the idea of some stranger all up in my privates https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif and WITH A LASER!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif

Do you mind me asking how expensive the laser treatments are? It is something I have been thinking about but cost is prohibitive.

In the meantime, I get bikini waxes very regularly!

Hi all. I’ve done laser on my legs, bikini and underarms and it works.I have a very little bit of hair that grows on my knees and around a tattoo( you can’t have laser treatments over tattoos, they will bleed out ink and get fuzzy looking).Mine cost about five hundred per session at first , but I was doing all three areas at once,I did 12 treatments, after the sixth the price was cut in half so right at $250.I went to a medspa because I have super sensive skin and they had the best reputation.I imagine you can find better deals.Just ask around and checkout the facility reveiews.I am soooooo happy with the results. It hurts just a bit and will make the skin a bit red, but that fades with in an hour. You CANNOT tan for two weeks before or after treatments and they are usaully 8 weeks apart.I had some dry skin on my ankles while I was doing it,but honestly it’s the best money I’ve spent. So I can put up with a little dry skin https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif.Think of it this way, most women go through about two to three razors a week.So that’s 4 packs of cartrigdes at $11 dollars each so $44 dollars a month. So for 12 months that’s $528 dollars a year then add in things like shave cream, the occasional wax and really the cost of laser treament starts to make lots and lots of sense. Hope this helps and sorry for the ramble https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

    Hi Ladies!
So I have been a shaver for many years. Then I tried waxing (I was chicken for awhile). Waxing was great until I became a fitness instructor and was teaching a lot. Then I started to get really nasty ingrowen hairs. I was contemplating laser (I still am) however i cant afford that much at once right now.
So someone suggested getting "Suggared". I went and I LOVE IT!!!
I always thought suggaring was just another way to wax, but its not. I waxed for about 2 years and it seemed to actually get worse if that makes sense. The hair got prickly fast and never got really thin.
Suggaring, well the first time I tried it I only felt pain for about 20% and that was on the lip area. (I am talking about a brazilian) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif I didnt have to go for anohter 5 weeks! ANd there was only about 20 % of the hair!
I went again (my second treatment) and again waited 6 weeks! Ive also started doing my pits and the hair on the kitty https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif area and my pits is so fine its like baby hair!
There are no prickly hairs, the hair is so fine and thin, and it hurts WAY less, also my ingrowen hairs are almost gone and I am not getting any new ones, and eventually you can go a couple months without having to get it done!
It costs about $40 for Brazilian and $20 for pits.
I will never recomend waxing again, Im a sugar girl! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I’ve been toying with buying the Tria for a while. It’s at-home laser hair removal, FDA approved, and very highly reviewed–here’s one example:
    http://hairremoval.about.com/od/lase1/a/tria-hair.htm
It comes in at about $500, which is far less than going to a medispa, and can be done at home. It’s only for people with light skin and dark hair, which is me.
I’m a waxer though and to use this, you have to stop waxing for 2 months and start shaving so that the follicles regenerate. Thinking this winter is the time to try.

Kandipole – thanks for the info on sugaring, I’m going to have to try that! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I’ve always been a shaver; I tried waxing a couple times and it wasn’t fun… But the at-home sugaring looks much more promising. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

My first session cost £300, and the second one £250. I’m getting legs, pits ‘n’ bits done. I can keep my panties on and just move them to the side so it’s not too embarrassing. Plus the lady who’s doing it is an ex-nurse and has had 2 kids so she’s seen it all before and it totally cool about everything, which helps when you’re as body-shy as I am!!

There’s a local salon with bargain prices on the laser! I’ve had 5 treatments over the course of 16 months, and it is 95%, all for less than a year’ s worth of waxes. She charges $80 for 15 minutes, and for me that includes underarms, ‘stache (joys of post-menopause), and kitty. Hurts less than waxing.
My arm and leg hair is blonde, so the laser wouldn’t work; works best when there’s contrast between skin and hair.

I lasered about two years ago, whole bikini area, pits, legs and it was the BEST thing I ever did. I was able to get a special all three times so the total cost was $2200…well worth it, imo. Works best on light skin, dark hair and I’m glad I did it before the grays came in https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Initial treatments were the most painful and subsequents I found not as bad. Absolutely LOVE it. My co-workers and I always joke that there are going to be nursing homes full of hairless grammas!

I’m a shaver, I just shave kitty in the shower along with my legs and pits. I find using a moisturizer afterwards really helps to prevent in-grown hairs, I use Aveeno. I have looked into laser, would really love to try it but like most of you have said, can’t afford it right now.

LOL about the hairless grannys comment!

Look slike laser is the way to go…. but too bad about the money issue. I always think stuff like that would make for a great xmas present, but how do you ask your family for laser hair removal for your kitty! lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif

As for the suggaring, I have only done it in a salon. Havent tried the home kits. The salon way – basically its sugar, lemon juice and water and it turns into a honey substance, she then rubs her fingers togther and it turns into this ball of gum and uses just the one ball for the entire brazillian area!
Maybe I should try the at home kit….? If someone else has tried it, or will, let me know how it goes. Ive tried at home waxing and never seem to get it right.

I use sugaring rather than waxing – my genetics makes shaving a really bad idea. Sugaring paste readymade is quite expensive for what it is.

I use this guide to making it http://www.beauty-fitness-savvy.com/sugaring-hair-removal.html

It works and is really easy to correct. If it isn’t sticky enough cook it some more. If it’s too hard then add some water.

I use facial hair creme remover (think nair for the face), then I shave the labia. I’m a tad scared to slather my labia up with that stuff, don’t want chemical burns on sensitive skin. The mound is no problem. Laser sounds great, but I’m a brown skinned lady, with dark dark hair. I’m *not* a good candidate. I’m considering electrolysis, but that’s for another pesky part of my hairy body!!

What about the butt crack? Do you guys shave, wax, laser there?

I used to wax (to save money buy your own waxing kit, I got this one http://www.amazon.com/GiGi-Mini-Pro-Waxing-Kit/dp/B000BJ1CGQ/ref=pd_sbs_bt_1 but would prob just get the brzillian pro now cause I like not having to use the strips).
But since I am traveling and broke as all get out, I have gone back to sugaring like I used to do in middle and high school. I make mine a little different than this

I use sugaring rather than waxing – my genetics makes shaving a really bad idea. Sugaring paste readymade is quite expensive for what it is.

    I use this guide to making it http://www.beauty-fitness-savvy.com/sugaring-hair-removal.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It works and is really easy to correct. If it isn’t sticky enough cook it some more. If it’s too hard then add some water.

but that way works well too. It’s really trial and error in the making and using of halawa (sugar wax). I know a women who would crush up asprin in the mixture to help minimize the pain. It’s not as bad as waxing but then again I tend to have a high pain tolerance when it comes to ripping hair out by the roots. Just don’t buy the kind at the store and expect it to be all natural since most have wax added to it.

Doing the butt crack when self waxing/sugaring is sorta like contortionism, but shaving there scares me (I’m always cutting myself) and nair hurts my skin. So I just do what I can on my own, or when I have money I pay for a pro to help me out.
