I am not sure if you can powder coat over chrome. I would talk to a local car bodyshop that specializes in it. I think you might have to have the chrome stripped off first. Not sure about this. The collar that sits on Pole A I would not try to powder coat and you will have to be sure that the holes in the poles are not changed in diameter. Does X offer their stainless for the XSL?
Although changing the color of the stage….hmmmmmm.

it only had chome or brass as options on their site chem, but i will call and ask! is it easier to powdercoat SS??

For me I called a bunch of different powder coating places here in my local city and told them what kind of pole I had (chrome x-pole) and none of them seemed to have a problem with it being chrome. I still have to take my pole in and have it actually done, but it will be https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
And here is another link explaining how the powder coating process works.

Hope this helps.

thank u witchess!!! my husband didnt think they did chrome but if more than one company will then i guess its possible?! i think im going to go with the brass x stage lite tho jus in case i cant get it pwdercoated for some reason, i live in a small town and idk how many places around here even do powdercoating!
-
No problem. For me I just googled powder coating+the name of my city and it came up with a listing of place. Then I had to call the places and get general quotes, lol. Good luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

thank u! an please let me kno when u get it done! anxious to kno how it works out for u!!

The only reason it would be easier to powdercoat over stainless is because it is the bare metal already. If I remember correctly they have to acid etch or sandblast the item first before powdercoating…since the chrome is already a coating I would think they would have to strip it off first.

this is true chem, i googled powdercoating process and hopefully ill like the brass enuf not to hav it done! thnx for the responses

Rixi – I had some bellydance scimitars a while back that I had copper plated. The scimitars were supposed to come copper, but instead it came this weird dull brassy/bronzy color that just rubbed and chipped right off. I took it into the platng place and the guy said they take acetone to get off the plating that was on there in order to copper plate it. They came out super purdy!

interesting sensual, im really hoping i like the brass, really really hoping it works with my skin

If you start sliding…grip aidses. It's what I did and it works like a charm.
-
ok i expect i will need it for my hands because i even need it now, thnx!

I want to powdercoat my brass pole… I called a powdercoat shop today and they quoted me approx $150 for a single coat process. I guess they have special finishes and colors that are a multi coat process (like glitter) and are $300 to start. There is no way I can afford $300.
$150 seems steep but I am going to call a few more places. I actually want to do it just to experiment with a powdercoat pole and also get a fun color for my pole room. My favorite finish is Stainless Steel but unfortunately I do not own one yet.
-
Wow that seems really expensive to have it done. Definitely call around to other places and see how much they charge. Only one place I called wanted to charge over $100 every other place was about $80. Hope you will be able to find someone who can do it without trying to charge an arm and a leg.
-
@Witchess, I agree!!! Thank you for the suggestion, I will call a few more shops this week. I was very disappointed with that quote. I am hoping I can find a place that will do it for $80ish. I think that is what akride357 said her powdercoat cost for her 45mm. Its a simple small job… and nothing fancy. I will cross fingers and put some calls in tomorrow.
-
$300?! Yup, mine was eighty, including glitter and a clear coat, and I’m in Alaska where everything is expensive.
-
I believe they are pretty cheap here as well. Shop around. They are trying to screw you big time!
-
Just took my pole into one of the local powder coating places and they're only going to charge me $65 to coat all the pieces. I'm so excited!! So now without a pole until at least monday, but it will be sooo worth it.

It's called Dixie Purple and it has sparkles in it. I got to see the powder stuff, it looks like mineral makeup almost. Like akride said, I just took it in, showed them the joints and the other places that need to be taped off and plugged. He said it wouldn't be a problem. Plus so many colours to choose from, it'd make your head spin.
@Sensual; I went with Altech finishes. Since I know we live in the same city if you ever decide to have it done. I also have a link to some other places here in town that can do it.
Can't wait to get her back, so I can snap pix and show ya'll.
-
Sounds cool! I probably won't need to get any pc done. My brass pole already over grips my skin. I actually REALLY REALLY want a stainless steel. I can spin so much easier on a ss and it doesn't want to tear the skin on my legs.
-
Brass sounds interesting. Does x-pole make a brass 50mm?
-
no they don't. They only make a 45mm. Platinum stages makes a 50, 45, and 38mm brass (the 38 doesn't come in a multi piece, only a 1 piece.)
-
This was a little more challenging than I thought it would be! The best deal I found was $125 for a glittery shimmer finish… that is still a bit steep but in a price range I will do. I'm not sure why it is so expensive here, I was hoping for $80. : (
Witchess, can't wait to see your pics. You ladies got great deals! Sensualscimitar… seriously… 150 for basic and 300 for glitter. Oh hellz no.
