I have a pole sleeve. It’s neat. I like it. At first I was meh about it but it grew on me fast. I did a blog post on it. If you want my in depth thoughts on it, I have it at femtasticdance.blogspot.com
I like it for practicing hand based moves like Ayesha cuz my hands are sweaty as hell.

can you do spins on the pole with a pole sleeve?

No, you cannot do a spin on pole sleeved pole.
I have a pole sleeve and I love it too, but I wouldn't recommend that you turn your pole into pole sleeved pole because you woudn't be able to spin on it.
If you have an extra pole, then go for it.

The spinning mechanisms will still work, but if you had it set to static then you wouldn’t be spinning much.
