Wow. Oh wow.
Awesome lists coming out and WOW to the girls who can do these crazy things! They really do look impressive.
I think I’ll just stick with a steady paced death drop for now https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif Ha ha.

Empyrean, it’s so funny, this is the second time I’ve realised I was performing a move wrong after reading one of your posts. The first time was when we were talking about the shoulder mount with Carrie, and you described the leg positioning for inverted crucifix as being like an upside-down fireman. That was when I realised I had been executing AND teaching the fireman spin wrong! Hahaha! Now that’s one of my favorite stories to tell about myself, that in spite of all the supposedly "advanced" moves I can perform, I still screw up on the beginner ones! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif So now I see that the death drop is a drop from inverted crucifix, wheras previously I had been trying to do that drop from the Tammy!
Aye-yai, thank the Gods for your background and training. Oh and by the way I have finally begun practicing some moves with the true grip and you seem to be right about it. Fleur gave me some encouragement on this topic too. I’m a bit stronger now than the last time I attempted to use this grip, and I feel like if I keep practicing with this grip I’ll have a Chinese Flagpole ready this year and in a roundabout way I’ll have you to thank for it when it happens.
So anyway, keep posting on this forum; there’s no telling what else I’ll find out I’ve been doing wrong! Hahah https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

so glad i asked! this is great! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
i did a craddle spin "drop" but it has to be done on spinny and it isn’t dramatic, but its diffrent. just doing a craddle spin on spinny mode and do small "drops" holding the position til your at the floor. dont just slide down to floor in position..drop a little while maintainin pose. keep doing drops in little spurts til at floor. don’t know why i am going to bother as sure even if supershort clip wont be able to upload (GRRRR!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif ) but will make a clip tommorow and TRY to post… tried the sad girl drop, but its more like a sad girl who can’t drop for me! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
atleast for now. i just get stuck.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif
well anyway this has been a great topic and thanks for the replies. especially the links! so helpful https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif -
Thanks for the compliments Stellar but also the names vary in so many ways that what I call a death drop may not be the same move for someone else. I’d love to see that drop from the Tammy!
This is a great thread…I was driving home from class tonight thinking about different drops and what could be combined…unfortunately I see things in my mind that may not always be possible! LOL

Veena, I have to agree with your loving of shoulder mounts and dismounts! Following confusion watching your Jenyne tumble with the shoulder dismount, plus a bit of Holly Drop obsession… I did a Holly Drop finishing in shoulder dismount rather than Scorpio! It’s really fun!!
Still trying to get the mechanics of the Veena-style Jenyne tumble into my head!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
For the drops thread.. I’ve always wondered if you could do a sliding drop whilst in Brass Monkey (maybe Funky Monkey), or Marley perhaps?

I first saw the "death drop" (crucifix drop) to the floor when Fawnia and I went to a local strip club in Chicago….the girl was on about an 18 foot pole and not only dropped super fast but arched her chest out suddenly at the bottom so that her body fell a bit further. It was incredible because you thought she had already hit the floor with her face before your mind registered that she arched forward!
Unfortunately she came up to talk to us and was so high she could barely slur her words out!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
Wow I’m impressed she could pull off something that incredible when she was high! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif Funny how the body can still work at peak performance but the mouth/speech can’t. Maybe it’s an adrenalin thing.

Sure you can do a Brass Monkey drop… I do it all the time… I end it in a *smack* on the floor. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif (Cold pole or slippy legs.)
But seriously, you could do a Brass Monkey, let your grip go (and you’d plummet) and catch it with Reverse Inverted Thigh Hold into some other move, re-grip the Brass Monkey (though, I’ve never managed that, I’m sure it might be possible?), or swing into a Pencil or straight edge style hand grip (do you have super strong and grippy hands? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif) ? Can handstand down from it from a height? (Ouch.)
I’d love to see a deliberate and well caught Brass Monkey/Funky Monkey/Marley drop!

the electric leg switch is a fun way to get down the pole, nut you may not consider it a "drop". I don’t have a link offhand, but I know K.T. Coates does it in many of her vids…..
-
Wow! Thanks for that link Phillypole Jess – there are some incredible combos in that performance – my mind is blown! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
And I haven’t even gotten to most of the other videos/drops that Empyrean posted yet – I’m excited! -
SkinDeep, I love the electric switch too! It’s inthis vid at 2:13:

So there are all sorts of drops in this vid, but around the 6th min she drops from an armpit hold. Ouch!

Found a pole sit drop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgI2e6a75TU&feature=related at 2.22. *EDIT* Be warned there’s nudity past 3.25 in this clip. I can’t totally remove this post, so I thought I’d edit it. There’s another post after this one mentioning this also but it went to the next page and I wanted to make sure this warning was seen. If this needs to be removed, moderator please do so.

oops. omg. was posting while watching and didn’t finish the clip before posting. there’s nudity in that clip at 3.25. Sorry!!!

For the drops thread.. I’ve always wondered if you could do a sliding drop whilst in Brass Monkey (maybe Funky Monkey), or Marley perhaps?
You’re thread reminded me I saw a brass monkey drop somewhere I couldn’t remember where but this morning it came to me…Karol does a brass monkey drop to a sit here at 1:17. Not a lide…but it’s from a brass monkey.

I also received a private vid from someone who did a cross ankle release and dropped into a V-split (or boomerang) then BOUNCED back up to a brass monkey! Unfortunately I cannot share it as it was private but it was awesome the way she bounced down and back up again!

That drop from Brass Monkey is cool! I’ve been trying something similar myself lately!
WRT to the private vid.. that idea reminds me.. recently did a master class with a lady called Karen Chaudy and she does this trick where she handsprings and then drops into a boomerang style position. 0:50 in this vid:

To go back up again into handspring would be pretty cool!!
