different finishes grip different for different people. I personally hate stainless. Other people love it. I have the driest skin on earth. Doesn't seem to mix well with stainless.
-
I just took my platunum stages pole down after 2 and a half years to replace it with an x-pole. The grip is like comparing an apple to an orange! I love the new pole!
-
@whatup,which xpole did you get, chrome or tg?
Someone in my town is selling a PS ss pole, carry case with wheels, ceiling mount and extension for $375….so confused what to do…should I try it? Or save for brass?
-
Mine is stainless steel I got it from a girl on Veena's website-it's a 45 mm, I love it-it's a 45, so now I have a 45 and a 50 x-pole..the new one was less than $375, contact me privately if you want me to give you her name. xo.

Have you considered the PS Single Piece Extreme pole? You mention you may be house shopping next year. You should get what you want now and if you move into a house with ceilings that are too different to use your pole, you can sell it and put that money towards a new pole for the new house.
With the single piece extreme you provide your ceiling height when you order and then they are cut to fit. Also… they have about 6 inches of adjustment to make the pole taller. Cant make it any shorter so measure carefully. As long as your new placed had similar ceiling height.
The ceiling mount with that one was only 19.99 more when I ordered my pole, so a bit of a discounted price just for ordering it when ordering a pole. I am using the top dome until I attach the mount to the ceiling.
PS offers a 10% discount for SV members.
I just got it up today and being used to 50mm chrome it was like night and day. PS brass was much more grippy and comfortable. It also had more give to it… hard to describe but you can tell it is softer.
Let us know what you go with, wishing you the best of pole shopping success!

LizzyLiz810 has ss and brass poles in her studio. She seems to like them both. Have you ever danced on either metal before? I've danced on both now, but the SS I danced on was lilmynxc and it starts out quite slick and takes quite a while to warm up, so it takes a bit of patience. I've also danced on a TG x pole. I prefer the brass personally.
I advise, if you can, to get a one piece pole if you move into a place that has 8' ceilings. That is the standaed ceiling height, so if you end up moving more than once, chaces are that you will end up with a room that has that ceiling height SOMEHWERE! Like JeHanne said, they have 6" of adjustment, so it's not absolute, you just can't go shorter (although they do cut it shorter than your ceiling heright so you can get it in.)

I have only used brass..and the xpole chrome once….the problem also is I live in florida,so was going to put it in my garage when cooler, but when it gets hot use it inside..my garage is 8 1/2 ft ceilings same with my room, also 9 ft in my room…but I don’t have a lot of room in bedroom to do a lot of tricks so would b in dining room for now which has 10 ft ceilings…so there lays my dilema…I wanted the 1 piece brass, more in my budget…I love brass…and as far as new homes, the ceilings go anywhere from 8 ft to 10 ft in rooms..and I have never had a house with 8ft ceilings except in spare bedroom..soooo confused….I want a pole in the next few weeks…..

Sounds like you already know you want brass. If you were to get an TG x pole, I highly suggest you get a 45mm. The walls of the 50mm (what I have) are thinner and more prone to issues than the 45s. Seems all the girls who have 45mm x poles love em.
You COULD get a stage! It is pircey, BUT if you get a 50mm brass, you can go from 7.5 ft to 9 feet. If you get a 45mm you can only have a 7.5 ft pole (safety reasons.) That would totally eliminate your problems with ceiling height. I am probably going to get one myself in the future.

multipiece are so much easier to deal with then a stage. I don't move my pole around in my house as I have vaulted ceilings in all rooms but the kids bedrooms. Those ceilings are only 7.5 high. The middle of the living room is 12. But I take mine down and take it with us when we travel and to other peoples house if they have a flat ceiling. Alethea Austin even danced on it at midwest pole jam showcase this past year 🙂 along with a bunch of other talented ladies such as Charley. I can't imagine buying a single piece pole unless I already had a multi piece, they are just too limiting for me. My next will be a stage pole for outside and performing.
-
I started out with multi piece poles and the storage is way more convenient. I am very happy with the single piece but bought it for a particular room. I have about 6 inches of wiggle if I want to try it in a different room but don't have the ceiling variation that you have.
I like stages but they can be extremly heavy depending on the manufacturer. They are also more expensive. The biggest considerations I feel are that you lose pole real estate due to the stage frame (3-12 inches), you have the platform stage area that can make floorwork a little tricky to get used to and the biggie for me… pole sway. Poles on a stage do not have a top anchor so they have a lot of sway.
Call Kevin at Platinum Stages, I spoke with him when I was trying to figure out my best option. In all honesty every time I have called I have received great service and when needed I am transferred to tech support for additional questions. I am happy with my pole and how they have treated me.
I would suggest pick out the room that meets your pole space needs and where you plan on doing most of your pole and buy the pole for that. Take over the dining room with those 10 foot ceilings and put the dinner table in the garage.
Priorities ladies…. priorities! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Joking aside… I struggled with making the best pole choice for me. Its a lot of money and there are many factors. I hope you are extremely happy and decide on the best pole soon so you can enjoy poling at home.

I think you should go with what you want in your heart. You should just know what your options are.

I'm so excited…i just ordered the PS SS super Pole. I think there customer service was great. Everytime I called they actually answered the phone and had plenty of time to talk to me. The girl on the other end…(can't remember her name.Sorry) was so so nice. Love them. I was actually considering a different Pole but she guided me and I feel like I got the perfect one. Yeah! I've been very limited by current Poles and can't take advantage of the full height my ceilings. Anyone want to buy a black coated Lil Mynx. Great for home use, but I would not recommend for a studio/business environment.
-
@pegasusaerial- please let me know what you think of the ss superpole..I was thinking of getting a brass 1 peice, than found out may be buying a new house..so now looking @ the sp again..but more money and $100 xtra for brass..have never used a ss pole before..what kind of pole do you normally use? The other thing is someone where I live is selling her ss sp,carry case, ceiling mount, and extension for $375..but ss..good deal, but like I said, never used ss before…I guess I could always buy it and if I want later a brass pole, sell it and buy the brass..I am just afraid of buying it and not liking it..and I don’t want to use any gripping stuff..I never used that stuff before on a brass pole,so don’t want to start..anywhoo,sorry abt the rambling..I just want to get a pole soon,my son is having surgery in dec and I will b stuck in the house for 3 weeks so can’t go to class..and a pole will help keep my sanity….
-
Congrats PegasusAerialFitness!!! I am in love with my 1 piece super pole! Can't wait to hear about how it turns out for you. What length did you end up getting?
Madisonsworld, you can get a carrying case anytime from PS. $375 is a bit of discount but not much. Platinum Stages offers 10% off to SV members and you can get it all brand new direct from them. My Single Piece brass 45mm pole and ceiling mount plus shipping was $330. That is with the 10% discount and delivered straight to my door cut to my specs. I felt like I got a great deal and I love my pole.
I have not used SS before… only Brass and Chrome. Chrome was not very sticky for me. Very cold and slow to warm up. I stick to Brass better. When funding allows… I will be buying a PS SS so I can have another surface to work with.
-
I think you should stick with brass ~ I have PS ss in my studio and have no grip at all on them unless they are super warm. I am very happy with the poles themselves ~ They are one piece ss permanantly mounted static/spin ~ Just wish i could stick to them!
-
in hot and humid florida, i would recommend you get yourself to a studio and try out a stainless steel pole before making the investment either way. as many here have mentioned, how sticky you find a pole to be depends COMPLETELY on your poling environment, skin type, and body chemistry and what works for some doesn't work for others AT ALL. in NYC, every studio uses stainless steel (mostly platinum stages) and there have been MANY a time when they get too sticky and actually rip skin in a humid, warm room.
if you're nervous about spending the money, spend a little time trying to see if you can give a pole a test run.
-
I was considering the brass.. I have very dry skin and sticking is an issue for me. But now I'm finding that the coated lilmynx is ripping my skin off once it is warm. It's different for every season. I think everyone at some point everyone has to use some grip aid once in awhile. I think the SS gives you the option of great spins and if you need more grip then you've got a little grip aid option. On the brass you are not as flexible.
Oh..I got the 106 inches..my ceilings are very low for poling….second site will be higher though…
-
Nobody has ss I.n their studio..just chrome xpole and 1 place has brass, but custom made from some place, not ps..it does get hot and humid, but my house is always 74..and I have only used brass..but want a multipiece prob…my ceilings are diff height in every room..maybe I will just get the ss one for sale in my town and I can always sell it if I don’t like it and buy brass….so confusing…
-
If the SS ends up being an issue, it's true you can sell, it, or you can work with it using grip aids, which most of us do, but SS really isn't that bad. At first I hated it, but once I built my strength up, I grew to love it. It doesn't tear your skin off in spins quite so much. My brass pole is giving me major pole burn.
-
it is so different for everyone. the only time I like my stainless is when it is incredibly humid. The brass one at the one club we go to is almost always perfect whether it is humid or freezing cold. I went for Chrome for my second pole (ss was my first) and I could do things on it day one of it being here that I could never do and still can't on my Stainless Steel. I have actually considered having it powder coated but with opening the studio soon I figure I don't really need two poles at home.
