    Hi ladies,
    one question for you.
I finally got my first pole dance mat, which feels great because I feel safer.
But It seems to me like I can’t feel as confortable in doing floor work and floor dancing (pirouettes, etc..) as I used to feel on my parquet (which yes is not properly a dancing parquet but a home floor).
Is it normal? Since my pole mat is here in my room I feel I’m leaving a little behind coreography or routines preferring "harder" moves (inverts, butterfly, gemini). It’s driving me crazy because I can only try aerial moves without dancing, and even if I think of taking off the mat for dancing moments than it’s difficult to perform tricks.
How do you feel about that?

i think that’s a normal feeling. i use my mat when i want to work on new tricks and not so interested in dancing. when i want to dance, i take the mat away and just let the music direct me.
You will just know when the time is right during a dance when you can comfortably and confidently do a new trick.

if you dont feel safe doing a move without the mat, i suspect that you are not quite ready to do the move without the mat https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
After you can nail the trick effortlessly with the mat, that’s a good sign you are ready to take the mat away and express the trick in your dance https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have an in between because i don’t feel safe doing trick just on the floor. So i have stole the big foam puzzle carpet of my kids, good to work out in the playroom https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif It’s firm enough the dance on but give me a little a cushion for emergency landing and more easy on my knees for floor work.

But i still use big mat when working on trick until i’m confortable to do without.

Personally I use the mat for learning and until I’m secure with a move I won’t include it in my dance practice/routines as I dont like the interruption of flow caused by using a move I’m not yet secure with.

I use the foam play mat for kids as well for my daily dancing. It also prevents the floor aroudn the pole from wearing down.
