anyone else have recurring yeast infections? my lady business is a jerk!!!!
Posted by glitterhips on May 8, 2011 at 11:33 amThis might be TMI for some of you but I basically have no female friends who aren't really shy and my boyfriend is sick of hearing me complain so I thought I'd come here and talk to you gals. I have been dating my boyfriend for about a year and a half and in this time I have had at least two instances of BV and a few yeast infections. Before we were together I had never had either of these conditions but I did have fairly frequent UTI's and I have had one or two of those in the past year and a half too. So..the only thing that has been new during the time period I have been having these lady business problems has been my boyfriend – so logically I am thinking that it's probably a reaction from bacteria I have and he has that is reacting badly together. I always make sure I pee after sex to flush everything out but obviously that's not helping me very much. I'm in a monogamous relationship so I am on the pill but we don't use any other birth control. I'm wondering if maybe using condoms would help? Except I hate them but it would be better than me having all these infections!!!! Has anyone had anything similar happen to them? It's really frustrating that my lady business is not functioning normally the majority of the time. I am going to go to the doctor and tell him everything I said here and hopefully he can help me come up with a solution but I wanted to see if anyone else has ever experienced anything like this?

not that its any of my biz but i was watching tv a couple of years ago and on one of the shows that tell bout unusual medical conditions there was a lady that would have these massive infections come to find out it was because she was having an allergice reactions to her mans sperm so you might wanna try the condoms with me its the opposite i have two reasons why i get them more then some women mine is im allergic to spermacide and i have pollycesarien syndrome so i get them before my monthly because of my cist popping if you want to keep them from coming so often or so strong try eating yogurt i dont like it so i eat frozen yogurt and it helps but anyway hope that helps you some

Men can also carry BV and yeast infections and reinfect you.
Do you take a good probiotic daily? I would look into that and also look into taking folic acid on a daily basis. I get BV a few times a year due to having an IUD and these two preventative measures have helped immensely.

You and your bf need to get treated together, otherwise he will keep reinfecting you. In the meantime, condoms should probably be used. Boys often times transmit stuff to us and do not develop symptoms as our insides are very welcoming for bacteria to grow happily… so yes, pee after sex and wash your lady business well.
Also, less sugar and processed foods (they are loved by the bacteria) and lots and vitamin C and liquids are supposed to help.
Good luck and do tell your doctor everything! he will probably say your boy needs to see a doctor as well or at least take the medicines he prescribes you.

Thanks ladies! I was beginning to wonder if that was a possibility….I got bv for the first time very early into our relationship so we both were tested for STI's and it all came back fine so I just assumed I was the problem but the fact that I keep getting them over and over means I'm guessing he is at fault….it seems like men are ALWAYS the problem…haha jk….kind of! 😉 I will also take all the supplements and things you girls have recommended to me which I probably should have been taking anyway. I feel much better having some light shed on the situation I will be making a gyno appointment this week and hopefully he can write us both a prescription.

Definitely take probitotics, and limit your sugar–bacteria thrives on sugar. And yes, like has already been mentioned, your guy could be reinfecting you–guys can carry stuff like that and it doesn't bother them the way it does us ladies. I read that it's actually easier for women to contract STD's because of how well bacteria and viruses can flourish in that area. He definitely needs to be treated.
Also, after the thread on whether underwear is worn under pole shorts and the one I started about smashing your lady parts on your pole, I'm not sure TMI is really an issue on this forum. lmao

Aslo curious if the BV and yeast are happening back to back? They are the polar opposites of each other and tend to occur when you over treat one. THere is a very delicate balance of yeats and bacteria in our lady bits. Sometimes if you kill off too much yeast it will swing things the opposite direction and you will get BV and vice versa. Boric acid, garlic and cider vinegar can be your best friends at the start. Google it and you will understand.

i had a vaginal infection once and my gyno told me that most woman have infections at least once in their lives.
One reason for infections is if you use saliva for lube when having sex so thats a big no no.
keep going to the bathroom after sex that will help, and use condoms and if you dont use any make sure you are both clean before having sex to eliminate the risk of infection. I hope this helps.

I feel your pain. I've been battling this same problem. I use a non-soap "feminine wash" to clean with. I blow dry my cooter after showering. I wear granny panties made of cotton. No tight pants. I use glycerin-free lube (glycerin is a sugar and can cause yeasties) and non-lubricated condoms (because of the glycerin problem.) I shower right after sex and I make him clean his bits before. I take cranberry pills everyday, an acidophilus probiotic, a probiotic called fem-dohpilius, and an azo yeast every day. I have started using unsweetened almond milk in my coffee (since milk has a lot of sugar) and stevia instead of sugar. Keep the carbs down too. You don't want to be a carb factory for the bacteria and yeast. They'll have a field day. When I get treated, the doctors have started giving me both antibiotics and diflucan to kill both so the pendulum doesn't re-start. Since I started doing this, it has been 2 months since my last infection.
Went to the doc yesterday and she told me that sometimes constipation can cause BV and yeast infections as well (I guess it throws the balance off) so she said to eat 1/4 cup ground flax seed everyday as a good fiber source.

I had this problem about one year ago. I’m on birth control too so I don’t wear a condom (because it burns and makes me dry). I use to go to a general doctor and he wouldn’t look inside me, just hear my symptoms, say what it sounded like and treated me for that. I’m not sure if I got med for my bf at that time. But it kept coming back. I got frustrated and went to a gyno instead. He took a look and he said I had two things….I can’t remember the names but the first one was an infection I treated a week or two before. He said there was still some there and another type of bacteria. He treated me for both and that was the longest I went without an infection. I get them now again, probably 2 or 3 times a year if so much. But whenever I do I go to the gyno, even if its more expensive it’s worth it. Another thing, I am SURE that he would write me a prescription for my bf. Oh, I think the general doc (they were different but they were from the same place) had started to do that after a while (I mean writing a prescription for my bf). So make sure u get an internal exam and that your bf gets treated because its very likely that he’s reinfecting you. I know how it feels. I thought something was really wrong with me and I was very worried. Thank God for my gyno.

And the two or three times a year…..I don’t count so I don’t know if its that much. All I know is I wud get treated and a month or two or 3 later I would be back in the doctor’s office. I mean, I went to the gyno a little afta I finished the meds for another infection that was prescribed by a general practioner so it mustve been around 2 weeks after. That was how bad it was.

Oh, just wondering but can condoms give infections?? I think it’s happened to me. He would wear a condom and two days later my lady business giving me itchy problems. But it doesn’t happen all the time. I’m just curious.

@ Jemmie It sounds like you might be allergic to latex. Condoms should (99% of the time) prevent infection. But if you are allergic to latex condoms youcan get yeast infection like symptoms. A friend of mine is allergic so she carries silicone condoms. Maybe try that.

Also, any TOYS u may use could be affecting this too. You may want to go with either glass or the hard plastics kinds. You may want him to "wash up" before, hands too, ya know..
