It depends on the pole you want, chrome, titanium gold, or brass.. Would you want a removable, permanent or a stage pole..I have a titanium gold xpert xpole, which cost $329 plus shipping.. It is worth the money.. Decide on the finish you want and you definitely will want static/spin cause you will have the option to spin when you choose to..

Look at the website and read up on each pole, there’s xpole, little minx, platinum stages.. Hope this helps..

Static is where you spin around the pole..spin is where the pole spins and you hold the pose..

I don’t really know where you can get an inexpensive free-standing pole.
Take XPOLE for example, a company that makes quality, innovative, safe and professional dance poles… Their version of a “Free-standing” pole is about $800something…..
While their other poles, which are mounted with tension or by being fixated to the ceiling are more like $3-400… Why do you want a free-standing pole? Do you want something that isn’t fixated permanently? Because there are other options.
I don’t know what your price range is. But I, as I am sure any other pole dancer will agree, DO NOT buy a cheap spring loaded piece of garbage. They are DANGEROUS. A safe and quality pole is going to be a bit pricey. Some popular ones include xpole and lil minx.
I have an xpole. I bought the “xpert xpole”. This is a pole that is mounted to the ceiling with tension, meaning that it is not permanently fixated to the ceiling. HOWEVER, it is also not spring-loaded. It is a very innovative system that allows you to remove your pole whenever you want, but is still incredibly safe to use! I have NEVER had an xpole fall over on me, not even with a few hundred pounds of weight on it. It can happen, but that is if you don’t properly care for the pole and don’t regularly do “safety checks” to make sure that nothing is coming loose. The xpert also has the option of being static or spinning.
You can also get the same pole without spinning mode for a little bit less money. On one hand, I would say that the latter is a good beginner pole, but on the other hand, if you end up loving it you might want that spinning mode down the road and to get it you will have to spend a few hundred dollars on a whole new pole!
If you are worried about spending money on something like this, all I can really say is that once I started pole dancing I never looked back… And I don’t know ANYONE who ever has!
