  Xpole set up nail popping through ceiling

  Hello
  I just got my xpole sport and bought the stud finder and leveler. I triple checked to make sure I have found a stud to place the pole up against. However, whenever I just start to tighten the bottom I can see the outline of a nail head starting to pop through the ceiling. Is this normal even when installed under stud?

  Also, I am starting to see a crack on the opposite side of the ceiling where I installed the pole which I don’t believe was there before. I am very nervous I might crack the ceiling even though I feel I did everything right. Is the nail popping near pole and hairline crack on otherwise of ceiling normal? I live in a 50 plus year old building that was entirely remodeled and renovated. Please advise !
