XStage vs XStage Lite with SPIN MODE
Posted by Dakota Fox on March 24, 2011 at 11:07 amHello all! I was hoping to get some feedback here… I am looking into purchasing an X Stage for our studio. We don't have spinning poles at the studio and I primarily want to buy one so we can begin to offer spin pole classes to our students.
So my question is:
Is the X Stage lite comfortable to use in spin mode? (IE: Does the base wobble or get off balance?) The reason I ask is that I have used a Platinum Stages Standalone on spin mode and felt like the whole thing was going to fall over…
Has anyone tried spin mode on both the regular X Stage and the X Stage lite? If so, what are your thoughts between the two? I'd prefer the compatibility of the lite version (plus the extra pole height) but want to make the best purchase for our students…
I'd really appreciate any comparisions y'all can provide!

hmm Have not used an x-stage lite yet, but the xstage did not budge at all when i put it on spin and we had people on it from 110lb to 175 lb

I’m interested in this too. I tried my first xstage last night. I liked it. It’s soooo heavy!!!! And it was quite stable in spin mode. I’d like to know how the xstage lite is. I’m interested in buying the lite if it’s better.

I decided to play it safe and purchased the standard stage… BUT the lady I spoke to at X Pole said that the X Stage Lite base is available for purchase by itself; ie: the pole is compatible with both stages (just move the bearing lower)!! So no need to buy a whole new pole set to get the X Stage lite if you already have the standard stage!! Very cool… the Lite version will be great for tradeshows, etc but I want something super stable for teaching my students on.
Still curious to see how the two compare if anyone has tried both!

Foxxy thank you for all the information on the stages! The compatibility of the pole between the stages is a great feature. Glad you will have the option to switch it out.

I"m trying to make the same decision. I"m very tall so, it's pretty improtant for me to get it right!

ive been on both, and i think the Lite one is taller, but not 100% sure. Any free standing poles feel kind of wobbly. Its just takes some getting used to.

I recently bought the xtage lite, and been using it all week for the first time practicing for a performance. The pole itself wobbles, especially the higher up you get, but the base stays put. At first I thought maybe the pole was wobbling more than it should, but after watching some xstage lite videos on youtube, they all seem to wobble the same. It does take getting used to–I'm still getting used to the wobble on spinning mode. I almost feel like I lose momentum with certain trick combos that I've been able to do on the xpert and still keep the momentum. Is there a trick to keeping momentum on a stand alone pole stage??

I have an X-stage lite that I use for practice and perfomances, and I love it! It wobbles slightly but you get used to it pretty quickly. Rachel, For me to keep momentum I try to really take my time when I climb. try to hold a fireman for one revolution then stand slowly for a couple revolutions, the longer you hold more simple moves, the less it wobbles.

Update: I have a brass x-stage light and I love it. It's heavy and cumbersome to move, but I chalk that up to safety. It is heavy because it is safe!

I am just about to purchase an x stage lite and am debating between the 45mm and 40mm – i would value opinions on what difference there is between the two and if having the narrower pole on the portage stage means it is alot more wobbly or whippier, is the 45mm heaps more stable in comparison or is it simply a case of getting used to what you have. If anyone has used both pole widths on a xstage lite that would be awesome.

The size of your hands and thighs will be a big indicator on which you should get. I did a write up on the sizes (with lots of photos.)

hand size does make a huge difference. I have recently aquired a 45mm and have cut my own fingers with my fingernails because I'm not used to my fingers overlapping my pole. Touching around the 50 yes, but not overlapping. I wish it were easier to grip the 45 with my legs though, because for teaching for hours on end, my shoulders are loving the 45. My thighs hate it.

My space allows me to choose between an x-pole or an x-stage lite. What are the pros and cons I should consider in making my choice? I intend to use it only for home use and like the option of sometimes taking it down.

I have an XStage Lite and a friend of mine has the original XStage. The original stage is heavier and a pain to travel with, but in my opinion spins more smoothly and longer and has less wobble.

I have the xstage lite. it’s awesome I love it I’m over 200lbs abd I did a performance with it. spins abd inverts on spin mode was excellent. the first time I practiced on it, it was a little scary cause the stage makes noise with my weight but other wise I love it, my bf wants me to sell it so I can purchase the home pole but I’m not hearing that. I live that pole. the height is great. the travel bags suck though. the handles ripped off
