What height of shoe do you wear?
Posted by Phoenix Hunter on January 20, 2014 at 2:29 pmJust wondering what size heel most of you wear? I started with 6 inch heels and am wanting to move up to 7 or 8 inches. can you tell a big difference between 6 and 7 or 8 inch heels? Thanks! 🙂

Most of my heels are in the 5.75 to 6.5 range, mainly because that is the most popular height and has the greatest variety. That said, I killed my beater/trainers and ended up getting a pair off ebay. I had no idea until I got them that they are almost 8″. I have been having the biggest problem with my calves cramping in them when I dance. I am not sure what the big difference is however the cramping is ridiculous (the angle of the foot is no different than my lower heels). I would not suggest jumping from 6 to 8 but stepping up to 7’s first.

I only recently started wearing them, 6″ is more than enough for me at this point! 🙂

I always wear six and thought they where high now I’m used to them I have gone for 7 inch trying them out tomorrow 🙂
-
yep, I’m thinking my next pair of shoes will be 7inch. My 6inches are gonna be worn out soon

I wore 6″ for 6 years. Just switched to 7″s and I don’t know how I lived without them. They’re so much better for floorwork.

I feel more comfortable sliding along the toe with the 7in vs the 6. I also smash my toes a little less in general. Not sure if it’s just my craziness but it feels easier to me!

I started in 7 inchers and love them. I’m only 5’2″ so I feel like a big girl in them lol
-
I’m convinced! I just ordered 7inch glitter heels. Yay!!! now the long wait begins…

I wear 6 inchers for pole. They make me like 6’2, which is awesome enough for me, so that’s probably what I’ll stick with. My regular dress heels I like no more than 3-4 inches. But I have a few 6 incher heels in my dressy shoe collection.

I really like higher shoes because they make your legs and extensions look so much longer. The shortest ones I wear are 7″. I like a big platform for floorwork, as some people said, and I also like the additional weight of a heavy platform as I think it forces you to move a bit slower. I have one pair of 8″ that I think the platform is hollow and they’re really hard to dance in because it feels kind of like walking on air? It’s weird. I definitely like a big, heavy platform in my shoes.

I think it depends on the performance and what moves you are doing also. A lot of floor work or splits, the bigger the better! 7 is my fav but maybe I’ll try 8 one of these days! However, I find that the bigger the platform, the heavier the shoe. My dead lifts and iron X’s are more difficult with bigger heels. So if there are a lot of strength moves in a performance, I will often opt for 6’s. Hope that helps.

I started off buying the 4″ black Pleasers w/anankle strap bc i just about never ever wear heels so anything bigger scared the crap outta me. But about 6 months ago i took a leap & bought a pair of clear 8″ Pleasers. It took two times of wearing them to get used to being tall & not worrying about taking every step i took, but once i hit like the third time wearing them i was in heaven! Youre feet are in less of an incline so they hurt less of you wear them for a min. I wear them for at least 5+ hr shifts 3-4 days/week & i compare it to wearing sandals. I will never ever go any shorter, but then again I’d probably never ever go any taller ha. Im 5′ 1″ so i look taller, slimmer, guys love it, and the guys who don’t end up looking the fact that i can slip then off & be short. They do help me to move slower and more graceful which makes me pay attention to the details in my body and moves. Good decision buying them! I can’t wait till you get them, try em out, and let us know what you think about em!

Which shoes will not break? Both my 8 in and 7 in Pleasers that I bought in the past 4 months broke after only a few wears. I spent too much money to have shoes break before even getting them worn in!
-
oh & if anyone orders pleasers & hasn’t before you might want to order a size up, they tend to run small.
-
I started with a 6 inch heel then once those got way to easy to walk in I moved up to a 7 inch. When I was able to run in my 7 inch heels I moved up to an 8 inch. I LOVE THEM!!!! I just ordered Infinity-901 and yes they are 9 inches but not for dancing more for photos. but i wonder if u could dance in them?????
-
@Sparrow Yikes! I would hate to break a heel, but then I’ve never poled in heels. What part of them broke? If it was a strap Aerial Gyspsy has a post on http://femtasticdance.blogspot.com/2013/10/jazzing-up-your-heels.html that might help you out (using ribbon to replace the strap) as does Pole Geek on http://polegeek.blogspot.com/2013/08/pole-crafting-stilettos-sos-strap-repair.html

If you aren’t very stable in heels yet, start small. 6″, then move up as you feel more comfortable. Also, the chunky heels are the easiest to walk in. Pointed stilettos are harder than the standard stiletto. The higher you go, the harder it is to walk in them.
-
Sparrow, they shouldn’t break that quickly! That’s crazy! I’d contact pleaser.

@adAstra, I was standing up :/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG9XJeIWQ6U
@AerialGypsy-I have contacted snaz and they are contacting pleaser. Only a 90 day warranty and I bought them just over 3 m ago (though wore them only a couple times). We’ll see. I did learn on here that the ‘fancier’ the shoe the easier they break. Geez!!! -
Yuengling, with some practice walking around your house (on tile or hardwood floors first cause it’s harder to walk on carpet in any sized heels) you should be able to do everything in 9″heels that you can in any other heels.
-
I wear 7 1/2″ I love it n I feel so sexy….I’m 5’2 so I love the tall feeling,lol….the PLEASER brand is the best!!!
