Once my foot heals up from surgery I’m really looking forward to learning to dance properly in heels as well as barefoot. I really love the way heels make legs look longer and give that added height for aerial work.

I’m really curious to know what heel heights and styles others like to dance in!

What height do you dance in now? Does is vary? Do you wear higher heels now than when you first started? Do you have a brand that you love or a brand you recommend for beginners? Have you noticed a significant difference in the weight of different styles or materials?

I do currently have a pair of Pleaser Bordello Teeze ( http://www.pleaserusa.com/ProductDetail.asp?div=5_BORDELLO&dpt=1_SHOE&ctg=TEEZE&STYLE_CD=TEEZE-07&PROD_CD=TEE07%2FB ) but I’m not happy with how they feel and I think I’d prefer something clear and lighter to make my legs look longer when I get back into it (the black kind of does the opposite!).

Oh those are gorgeous! I’d love to see you in them sometime! I wear 6 inch clear Ellie’s right now, and I love them. I’ve only been poling about 9 months so maybe as I get better, I may go higher. I just bought another 6 inch pair by The Highest Heel and I can’t wait to feel them!! My Ellie’s are pretty comfortable, they have a bit of padding on the sole. I’ve never had Pleaser’s so I have no idea about those.

I’m partial to the 7 inch Pleasers with clear foot straps. I find the clear straps much more comfortable and they have better pole grip. I had a pair of 6 inch Ellie’s before, but I found them heavy. My Pleasers are nice and light! I also found the Ellie’s were narrower than the Pleasers (not a big deal for me since I have skinny feet anyway, just an FYI for you in case you don’t want that) and the bend at the ball of the foot seemed to be further ahead towards to toes. Hard to explain, but that bend didn’t seem to hit me at the right spot on my foot. Make sure you look at the height of the platform when you buy. I also have a pair of 8 inch Pleasers, but the difference in platform height between the 7 and 8 inch heels is pretty major…2.5″ platform on the 7″ heels and 4″ on the 8″ heels!

Oh wow, thanks for the tip on the platform height! Ridiculous to think that a higher overall height might actually be kinder on my foot because of a higher platform. I hadn’t really paid attention to that aspect, but not that you mention it it seems like an obvious thing to check!

I’ve looked into Ellies before but decided against them as I do have a wide foot and usually require half sizes, so Pleasers for me well.

Plus, Pleasers are easy to get my hands on in Australia. I’ve done some looking into The Highest Heel and it’ll cost me more to get a pair, but I’m still interested in hearing feedback about them!

Thanks for the info guys 🙂
