horsecrazy – as it gets closer people are gonna start looking for roomies! Im going to travel via megabus, its cheaper than me driving and spending all the $ on gas eventhough I get awesome MPG's.
If anyone is in the Baltimore/DC area thats going by megabus let me know. My husband is not a big fan of me traveling alone for many good reasons.
-
when skittles was here for APFA she stayed at a hostel by me and said the accomodations were good– and the pricing is about as cheap as you can hope for in NYC.
i believe rooms start at $29/per person? it's 4-12 beds per room with shared bathrooms in the hallways. it may not be what everyone is really looking for but if you're on a super budget, you can't beat that price!
-
I didn't realize NYC had hostels–I could afford the $29 at least, lol Unfortunately, I'm from Washington so I am completely on the other side of the country. Just traveling to NY could get quite expensive.
Mini, what's a megabus? Just curious, as I've never heard of this before. My sister took a bus to Portland on a class trip several years ago that had bathrooms on it and everything–is that what you're talking about?
-
horsecrazy – its kinda like that. Megabus is the name of the company. They offer super cheap bus fares to a some destinations.
I totally forgot into looking into a Hostel. Im gonna have to check that out. Maybe we can all stay in a hostel together!
-
Whooo hoooo!
Veena – I love the changes to the site…!! Ive been too busy to get on regularly..
Cant wait to see everyone again this year in the Big Apple..!!!!

Heidi from pole waxers (forgive me if name is wrong) -
I am so excited for all of the competitors many of whom I have been watching on YouTube for the past three years. This will be the first year not making it to NYC for the big comp so I must hear all the news
-
Me, too! I am so excited – hope I get to go.
I did hear Melanie Kady made it for amateur! Woo!
-
Hmm…I may try to make this. It would be neat to meet everyone…maybe find out who is at what hotel and try to book at the same place? Sounds like fun! Hope I can get away!
-
I think Rebecca Starr got in for Pro too!
They said they are going to make the annoucements for everything this by the end of the month. If your a USPDF member and got your newsletter they have already set up various packages for workshops/tickets. I have a small feeling its going to be at Symphony Space again. It seem like a good location when I saw it via photos.
Im all for trying to stay together. Im trying to cut costs the best I can w/o being really cheap (like living off of pbj all weekend). Whoever suggested a hostel was a genius idea since I dont think alot of us will be staying in our rooms for long.
-
It's definitely at Symphony Space – I'm trying to get my hubby to go. About time he saw pole the way it was meant to be danced! Will there be a big Veena meetup somewhere? Or an afterparty like last year? I want to see you all!
-
I unfortunately won't be going this year… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif we've had some "misfortune" and won't be able to afford it. I'm bummed, but I'll be shooting for next year! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I’m going to both ceremonies (again). I saw Karol’s submission video, and I can’t wait! They, like so many of the members here, inspire me incredibly!!! I’d love to meet you guys in person!
-
I'll be there!!! Soooo ready to celebrate my bday weekend with you guys!!!!
Here is what I've heard: Leigh Ann , Karol, Heidi Pasch, Melanie Kady, Amy (not sure on last name) and Jennifer (I think her last name is Kim, but don't quote me) from BeSpun, Michelle Stanek. Now I could be wrong on some of these, but it's what I've seen on FB.
Although I'm a little confused, didn't the top 3 girls in west coast and east coast automatically make it to the pro comp??? Or is it just 1st place?
West Coast Winner 2010, Natasha Wang! 2nd Place: Shelly Lamb 3rd Place: Amy Raven
East Coast Winner 2010, Rebecca Starr! 2nd place: Heidi Coker, 3rd place: Allison Cox
Either way, top 3 are now pros — so Heidi from pole waxers couldn't have been in the amateurs.
As for location From USPDF.com:
US Pole Dance Championship 2011 will be held at Symphony Space in NYC Fri, April 29. Amateur 1:00PM, Pro 7:30PM. Ticket sale starts Sunday Jan 23.
Stay updated on ticket sale, workshops, and more amateur competitions coming up in 2011 by signing up to our newsletter.

THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!!
Im ready to start booking everything! I wanna get a head start on it so I can present it to my husband so I can get the green light on going.
-
So they posted the finalists, but I thought there were supposed to be 12 pro finalists… and I only see 8? Does anybody know why this is? Did all the others just not submit you think??
-
I'm not sure what is going on either? Because Rebecca Starr is guaranteed a spot as this year's East Coast Champion, and she's not on there – so there are definitely people missing. They also said that there would be 8 amateurs and there are fewer than that….they sure are dragging out the suspense! Hurry hurry! 🙂
-
my boyfriend and i want to go so we are saving money as of now.we never been to new york and so excited to go and see the champinships..anybody know of any hotals close by the event please let me know thank u my pole sisters lol debbie n missouri
-
LittleC and Blueeyes – I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if they are going to finish adding more as everyone turns in thier paperwork.
-
Yes there are definitely more to be added. Not sure why they posted only a few… I guess bc us impatient ppl 🙂
-
@Little C – Neither Rebecca Starr nor Natasha Wang were guaranteed a spot in the National Comp this year just because they won at the Regional Comps. USPDF had to change the rules this time, and EVERY PRO had to resubmit a video in order to be considered. There were 18 "Pros" but only 12 spots available, so USPDF sent us all an email stating if we wanted to compete at Nationals, we ALL had to resubmit a video. As the pool of Pros grows, USPDF said they will hold more competitions since they are only accepting 12 competitors in the National Comp. Just wanted to clear that up….Can't wait to see everyone there!!
-
Correction, there are 22 USPDF PROS:
Leigh Ann Reilly
Karol Helms
Estee Zakar
Zoraya Judd
Takeila Fox
Faith Daniels
Brynlnn Lewis
Gabrielle Valliere
Jessalynn Mediary
Amber Richard
Sarah Cretul
Lauren Goldstein
Denise Brown
Alethea Austin (can't compete again because she won last year)
Jenyne Butterfly
New Pros:
Mina Mortezai (winner of amateur competition)
Rebecca Starr
Heidi Coker
Shelly Lamb
Natasha Wang
Amy Raven
Allison Cox
With all of the ladies eligible to compete at Nationals, USPDF changed the rules and made EVERYONE have to resubmit in order to be considered for the comp in April….
-
Thanks Allison for clear that up! Isn’t Lian Tal a pro also?
-
Rena: Lian Tal is NOT a pro. She competed in the first USPDF comp back in 2009, but unfortunately fell during her optional round and did not place.
-
I just got my tickets yesterday! Row C!! I have an extra one if anyone wants it, let me know!
