I know Winter… I just talked to her and she didn’t make it

Wow…not that those who were selected were undeserving at all, but they cut some great folks. What a hard decision for Anna and Wendy to make!

I’ve always wondered if filming your submission at an actual strip club affects how the video is perceived. There was a submission for USPDF West (I think her name was Christina?) that was clearly shot before or after her shift. She had mad skills and was doing tricks I could only dream of at the time, and she didn’t make it. I thought she was a shoo-in.

Not that it SHOULD matter, imo – in a perfect world it’s about performance level, creativity, flexibility and all that jazz, but it’s an interesting thought.

I never thought of that…. but you know, maybe she just knew someone who worked there or had good connections and they let her practice. I’ve been talking to Winter about going and practicing at that strip club with her before it opens… hopefully they will let me! oh yeah! Hustler has 2 of them! Ive got connections at one club (good friend of mine is a bouncer), every time I go I debate on getting on stage just for a hot second and see if anyone would notice. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I think it could make a difference in the sense that the lighting is usually poor and there are distractions around the dancer that take away from the performance but I don’t think it affects Wendy and Anna’s decision otherwise. Wendy was a stripper at one point and many (if not most) of the contestants so far have worked in clubs as well.

It’s also important to realize they might not be looking at the same things we do. Tricks are great but if you don’t have flow, you won’t be the most interesting person to watch onstage. They are trying to find a lineup of girls with skills and artistry AND different styles to keep it interesting.

    Just my thoughts https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I agree Fleur…. it takes artistry and flow of the routine… which takes a lot of practice and I know that a lot of successful pole dancers have a background in dance or gymnastics, and if not, it can take some time to gain that natural flow and gracefulness (pointed toes… legs straight…) Strippers can do fun tricks but some are just not up to the artistry level.

i agree… just because someone can execute the moves doesnt make them a great performer… its a whole package that theyre looking for… and narrowing down all those entries to 6 was hard work im sure..!

So F-ing glad I didn’t get involved in this. I love USPDF, I love Wendy and Anna but omg the people who didn’t make it are better than I DREAM of being. Who is the 6th person????

USPDF 09 had.. someone representing each style.

2010 for the pros will also have a damn tasty style line up.. the amateur div, not -as- much, but still, it’s a great line up!!!! All the women are mega-talented and probably have their secret signature moves just waiting for the stage. Or they better. There can be only one!

Wow. She’s an awesome dancer. I though she would get picked, but she said something about not having the money to go this year, which is a shame. If it’s her, I hope she could work something out and hopefully reconsider.

Well if it is her, I wonder why she was allowed to submit a video that was over 6 1/2 minutes long when the rules limit it to 2-3 minutes?

On the 14th, USPDF sent me an email with the workshop schedule and the link to buy packages and sign up for workshhops. Did nobody else get one? I wondered why the workshops weren’t filling up very fast.

It is only members right now. I’m not clear on when non-members can sign up. I know the package discount offers for members expire mid-January and so that may be the date when non-members can sign up.
