ooo nice, I’m glad you had such a great experience last year! She always seems…well exactly as you described…whenever i see her in a video or interview. the workshops you’re taking on saturday are at B&P too? or are they the ones through USPDF?

All of the workshops I’m taking are at Body and Pole. Money has been a little tight this year, so I went with the place that was less expensive. They also have less poles, so less people per class = more attention paid per student. I originally tried to register with the USPDF site, but for some reason I wasn’t allowed in the site to sign up, even though I am a USPDF member. I emailed Wendy about the problem, but she took a few days to respond, so I ended up going with Body and Pole….

Sandy – I’ll be in that workshop with you! I signed up for Jenyne and Alethea on Saturday and Leigh Ann on Sunday @ Body and Pole. I took Jenyne’s workshop last March at NYPD and she was awesome!! She came in and laid out all of these professional photos of her doing things on the pole and told us if we saw anything we wanted to learn, to ask. She also came around and asked what we were working on, and what we needed help with. She is soooo sweet and humble and patient!! She wants to see you succeed. No one should be intimidated by her because she is SO NICE!! Unless the skill level is specified, I wouldn’t worry about it because Jenyne will work with people at all levels. Anyway, looking forward to meeting some of you in March!

GatorGirl4Life: I just signed up for Alethea’s Saturday workshop and Leigh Ann’s as well! I look forward to seeing you and hopefully some of the other ladies here. March can’t get here sooner!

yeah i was having a hard time with my membership too! but I figured it out and since I got the membership package or w/e the prices are the same…$60 a class…right?? aren’t B&P $60? I’m gonna take a B&P class on Sunday too if I can…I read on there that B&P has 4 poles and 12 girls a class, I wonder what the ratio for the NYPD is gonna be…..hmmmm….

I also finally got an email back from Wendy about my tickets and whatnot and they ARE at the front desk of the theater and need to be picked up at least and hour before the show and I need to bring an ID (and im bringing my receipt too) I asked her how i find my exact seats and she said that the tier 1&2 tickets that are sold through the USPDF site are roped off and are like first come first serve….i think….so you can pick where ever you want to sit in there as long as you have one of those tickets??? idk but JUST in case anyone was having the same questions as me I wanted to throw out the information I got from Wendy =)

cant wait to meet everyone and be around other pole-o-holics haha!

I read on Body & Pole’s website that they are expanding their studio (tearing down a wall and all that good stuff) this week, so the studio will most likely be bigger to accommodate more people. Also, NYPD is getting a bigger studio in the spring. Most likely it will be before the competition begins.

I’m now on the volunteer list for both the amateur competition and the pro competition! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

But I purchased my ticket before I found out. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif

Does anyone want to purchase my ticket? It’s for the 7:30 pro division show, row P, seat 107. I have a pay pal account and can be paid from there (I’ve never had to use my pay pal account to actually do this, but it should be pretty simple, right?). I will mail the ticket to you as soon as the money gets into my account. It’s the $85 ticket.

HOLD THE PHONE!!!! Remember when we did the Baltimore trip thread? How we listed who was going??? Can we do that again for this thread?? I was thinking of visiting my friend in NYC in March- but not go to the USPDF because that’s too expensive. But I’d love to meet up with everyone one night if you all go out or get together….I’m still thinking about it, not 100% sure I’m going yet. OH! And when IS the competition date to and from?

I’m thinking about going, maybe a workshop, too… but my husband’s great-grandmother’s 90th birthday is the 20th and he can’t go, so I’d be going alone. And time is probably running out on the workshop slots, too.

And with the workshops, how do you pick which one you want??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I was poking around (right up until you enter credit card info) and it never asked which one.

Anyone know when time runs out so I know when I have to make up my mind? I saw they’re sending out emails about the workshop locations on Feb, 1st…

for the USPDF workshops thru NYPD, you need to buy the workshop and then after you purchase it you have the option to schedule it for whatever class slot you want.

    Thanks https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I haven’t committed to anything yet… Still wondering what would be the easiest way to get down there and where I’d stay. I’d rent a car but I’m scared out of my mind of driving in NYC. I could fly, but I’d have to take a cab to get anywhere and I’ve never taken a cab before. *sigh* I think I’m worrying too much… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

But I do have an idea https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_idea.gif : maybe we can all form little Studio Veena groups to kinda stick together. You know, book hotel rooms together, go out for meals and such together, etc. and split the costs. Would save money for everyone and people like me wouldn’t have to worry about being alone. Anyone up for that???

For instance, I’m from the Southern Tier of NY, near Binghamton – about a 4 hour drive from NYC. If a few girls wanted to meet me in Binghamton I’d be willing to rent a car and drive us to wherever we’re staying in NYC. We’d book hotel rooms together. We could take cabs while we’re in the city so we don’t have to worry about getting lost and parking. Then on Sunday or Monday morning (depending on who has workshops when) we drive back to Binghamton and head our separate ways. We’d all split the costs of the rental car, hotel, cab fares, etc. Just an idea.

Im up for it, I think thats the only way I could get up there. Im really waiting on Uncle Sam to give me my tax $ so I can get my car back on the road. I soooo want to go to this, but the car comes first. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Hey everyone! I was told I should join this group, as there might be some questions people have and I would be able to easily answer… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
So I am happy to introduce myself to all of you whom I haven’t met yet, I’m Lian, from Body & Pole NYC. I feel so out of the loop not knowing about this forum…but i am super excited to finally be a part of it!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I know some of you were confused as to the USPDF weekend workshops, so I would like to clear things up a bit.
I am NOT affiliated with Wendy & Anna’s Federation as a studio, I AM a USPDF member as i was also one of the top 12 original contestants last March here in NYC and was lucky enough to meet all these amazing women and make some great friends. I have been teaching pole dance for about 2 years out of my home studio, and finally got lucky enough to find the space I moved into a month ago. Body & Pole finally became a reality, and now it is a real studio, about 500 square ft, with 4 poles. Our ceilings are 14ft, the highest out of all the studios in the city. It is still a small space, and i chose to put only 4 poles up so that there is more room between the poles, instead of cramming one more pole just so i can maybe make more money.
I decided it would be great to have more than one studio offering workshops for all the women coming to NYC for the USPDF, and as I am a brand new studio, I decided to set the price to only $60 instead of $75 per workshop at NYPD. I also remember what it felt like when I went to VA and could only afford 2 workshops but wanted to take many more…
The classes are ALL open level. ALL the instructors will work with you in your level, so even if you can’t invert yet, you will be just fine.
I also decided to open my studio for all of you to come and play on the poles for only $10, as I know how much money you are all spending already, and want to make this a fun trip for everyone, and get to meet as many of you as possible.

So Please come by Body & Pole when you are in NYC, even if it is just to say hi and introduce yourself to me.

I am super excited to be a part of this beautiful community.
    XOXOXOXOXO
    Lian

I think it’s so cool of you to open up your studio for us to pole around in. I look forward to checking it out and climbing one of those 14 footers!
