I was watching the old "Poletricks 101" by Pantera and realized that I still can't do the move called "one-hander". She starts in a handstand facing the pole with both hands on the floor, then she splits her legs into a V and moves one hand from the floor to the pole. How does that happen?!?!?! I can only move a hand if my legs are gripping the pole, which they are not if they are splitted. Have any of you tried and succeeded with this move? If you haven't seen the DVD this picture should make it more clear what I mean:

hmm interesting… I'm trying to hold a one-handed handstand but with my back to the pole, not like that… so, she moves one hand from the floor to the pole and then what? butterfly? spin? hold? i'll give it a try next practice and let you know how the adventure went 😉

This is a set-up to what they call a Spin and Snap which is similar to what Veena calls a spin dismount if I'm not mistaken. So next she pushes her body out from the pole with a lot of force and then falls to the side, hooks one knee (as you can see on the picture) and spins around until she reaches the floor. I'm quite positive that even if I had managed to get into the one hander I would NOT be able to do that push without crashing.

I'll be interested in your success with the one-hander! If you'll manage I would like to give you a medal:). When you stand there with legs apart you really feel how heavy your body is.

oh cool, I get it! I can do the spin and snap, but i dont push the body out like that… agree it might be more problematic than holding the handstand just with one hand… i'm so excited to try it! I wont have time today but definately tomorrow I'll work on it, camera on for better or worse 😉

Same for me, I can do the spin and snap but I start with two grounded hands and start the spin from there.

Good luck tomorrow, looking forward to hear about the result:).

I don't manage to do Pantera's handstand, but I worked on and succeeded with something that looks like a Butterfly, so a one-armed butterfly handstand then. I think it's much more difficult than it looks, and I definitely don't nail it at every try. Just posted it to the site! https://www.studioveena.com/videos/upload/4fa70e78-ad18-4c6d-a6af-525b0ac37250

Tried this tonight, but didn't get very far.  There's either got to be a trick I'm missing, or else it's just a single handed handstand, which is pretty darn impressive.

I got home from work and saw this thread and just had to try a 'one-hander' straight away. I reckon it's possible if I get my balance correct, posted a video of my very first unprepared attempts and hope in a few practices I can show improvement 🙂 In the meantime, enjoy meeting Elsie – my cat, 'cause to be fair – she's probably more interesting in this video than I am 😀

Great work nichtooks, you are on track to complete the move it seems to me! Balance must really be the key. Maybe you’ll share your further progress with us!

SilverLady , are you referring to the one-hander or the spin and snap move?

ok… good news and bad news!

good news, I did it! 😀 dont want to brag but it was actually quite easy… its more about ballance than strength…

bad news… I'm used to spin and snap on the other side.. and old habits die hard i guess… need to work on that, or just work on holding it on my weak side… 😉 the push away from the pole, didnt even try it. I'm pretty sure there was a good chance to end up crashing on my back so.. i'll wait and work on that next time I convince my bf to spot me 🙂

thanks for sharing this, really is a cool and impressive way to dismount!

oh btw, video is up 🙂 I now i may be cheating by twisting the weight to the side, but it helps a lot!

Wowwww, you’re so good! Don’t worry, I don’t think anyone would call it bragging:). I will have to try to twist too, I didn’t do that in my attempts. Maybe later tonight:)! Congrats!

When I do this, I straddle my legs far out to spread the balance and I usually lean over onto my right hand because it's my stronger side. I lean my body over to the right side and the pole rests on my stomach but the stomach isn't holding myself up if that makes sense…. it's not super difficult, just need to find your balance 🙂 I haven't done this move for ages though cos it always looks ugly when I do it hehe

Did it! So possible it was, but it can get a lot better of course. I hope I can get as stable and straight as miss Pantera with some practice! Thanks for your input, it helped! I guess I wasn't confident enough that it would work before. Here's the vid, I look funny in it:):

Realized I forgot to tell you one curious thing from the DVD…if you don't want to do the spinning dismount from that one-hander there are other options. The instructional voice puts it as "alternatively you an spank or grab your ass with your free hand".

Can't help it but some funny images are turning up in my head when I imagine any of us spanking our bums in that pose but art doesn't have any limits I guess lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif.
