    What up Veeners?!

So I much anticipate getting my first pole for Christmas! However, I need to top off my research befor drawing a final conclusion. I've narrowed my pole options down to Platinum Stages and x-pole (although I like platinum stages better from the look). Lil Mynx is just not an option for me, and I don't like the mirror finish on their ss poles, not to mention I just don't like the design. X-pole seems good, although I'm not fond of that big dome @ the. It's kinda funny looking but from what I hear it's the big secret behind x-pole's award winning stability. I then came aross Platinum Stages Extreme Super Poles, and I have to say that their design is the most appealing. I'm picturing an extreme super pole (2-in) stainless multi-piece in my room and it sounds right. I just had a few questions. Has anyone had any troubles with that skin threatening sleeve at the bottom? I get chills imagining me SLICING my thighs all over the thing. I hear a few people have gotten pinched or even cut by it. If you don't know what I'm talking about then here:  http://platinumstages.3dcartstores.com/zoomify.asp?catalogid=281&img=assets/images/sleevedown I think I'll save myself the horror of hell and just get a top loading pole (which they also offer). I wasn't to thrilled of the loading showing at the top, but then after looking at a sample of AerialGypsie's  https://www.studioveena.com/photos/view_photo/4ecd5f1c-461c-4d93-9e4c-64680ac37250 it doesn't look so bad after all. Anyone own the new EXTREME super pole? What are your opinions? And to all those who don't like platinum stages poles: Yes I know that the top and bottom base peices are made of "bulletproof" plastic and not metal along with the cover sleeves which won't be a prob since I'm not getting one with those. But those are the only plastic parts right? I did hear one rumor about their poles having a fake chrome sort of paint that chips on the poles themselves which sounds kinda contradicting considering the poles are supposed to be stainless steel anyway. I also know that stainless is slipperier then chrome but I hear it works good in hot & humid climates. This is not an issue considering I live in Tz, Africa, so grip shouldn't dissagree with me there. However, I also hear the humidity might cause the plastic paint on the top and bottom peices to bubble and chip off. I guess that's not a HUGE issue as long as the pole it safe right? Anyway the last question I had was regarding the multi-piece option. I want a multi-piece since I plan on transporting it and taking it down from time to time. I hear awhile back the had some problems with seams where the pole pieces connect. Are they better now? I like the idea of a one piece but I'd have no place to put it when i take it down. So yeah, as much feedback as possible would be more than appreciated! thnx. 🙂

I have the PS Multi-Piece Brass and a chrome X-Pert. I have used a PS Stainless at my dance studio and a TG X-Pert at a friends home.
The PS Multi-Piece is by far my favorite pole. Here are the bullet points:

*everything you’ve read about both X-Pole and PS is true.
*X-Joints slip and their poles get stuck (even the new ones). Fixing stuck joints is a very difficult process and, in my case, damaged the pole.
*PS poles are difficult to put together the first time. The threads are a mess.
I dealt with this problem by using a wire brush and a lot of elbow grease to thoroughly clean the threads and remove metal filings. It was a pain and it took about an hour.
*Now, the threads move easily, and I move the pole all the time with ease.
*Between the two, I consider the PS the easiest pole to use and also the most stable.
*As for the plastic sleeve on the PS, tear it off, throw it away, and flip the pole to make it top-loading.
*Finish – I love my brass! If brass isn’t an interest, I would definitely choose Stainless over Chrome for a warmer climate. I don’t have enough experience with the TG to comment on that finish.
    Enjoy your new pole!

The big dome exists on both the PS and the X.

Being a male I would be concerned with any multipiece pole and more so with the PS.  At least with the X you can order the longer joints which give you 5 inches of reinforcement at the joint.  PS will only have the small amount that is threaded at that joint so if you are doing any power moves there is a very real possibility that you will bend if not break the pole in half in a short time frame.  Yes, this does happen.  If you are leaning to PS do yourself a favor and order a one piece.

I agree with Chemmie!  I love stainless steal – it's my favorite finish and that's the only thing PS poles do well.  I have been cut  several times by the bottom adjustor cover.  The ceiling plate is just painted but isn't probably an issue unless you wear shoes…I've had metal flakes come down in my eye before.

I own 4 X-Pert X-poles and take 2 of them up and down and a apart all the time – I've only had 1 joint twist on me once in 2 years.  That's a pretty good track record.  I also got it out pretty easy.

If you like stainless get the a one piece from platinum or if you need a multi piece then get the X-pert chrome.  Unless you don't mind a top  loading pole that is  because like hotelchick said you can turn it over and make it top loading – that's up to you but I wouldn't dance around that cover piece – it's awful.

Twister, good call on staying away from the LM SS……talk about slick!  I have two friends with them and they are both lookig at getting different poles.  I have an LM black powder coated and love the grip, just the size is too big for me.

I agree with chem, if you can, get the 1 piece PS pole. The ceiling plate on the PS pole is smaller than the dome for the x pole, BUT the ceiling plate is fully covered in sticky silicone, whereas the x pole has a ring around the edge and a small cirle in the center of the dome. Honesly, my PS pole has not ever budged. In fact, it's kinda funny, when I unscrew my pole to take it down, the ceiling plate stays stuck to the ceiling, so I have to pup one of the sides down to get it to unstick.

If you get a 50mm pole, pole danzer makes some pretty strong poles (from what I've heard.)

Wow. Thanks for all the advice. You all are extremely helpful! xD   It seems like more of you prefer a solid 1-piece over a multi. I would so do it except I have no idea where I'd put the thing wen i take it down. Plus I want to be able to take it with me on long trips (we take alot of road trips). I guess my only new concern is the metal flakes in the eye thing like Charley said. I guess I'd have to just see how that goes. Everyone's experience is diff right? I also think the one-piece poles are cheaper too…bummer. Guess I gotta make a choice here…

keep in mind that the threaded poles (like the PS multi) are hard to get apart if you don't use the proper lubrication…aerial amy did a blong about a good lube for them.

X poles are much easier to take apart.

I’ve had my PS multi piece for 2+ years now and I have never gotten paint in my eye. The top is chipping a bit around where it connects to the pole, but it’s nothing major. I would post a pic for you but I have no idea how.

Ok so I had sorta a last minute change of plans. I have decided that the most convenient pole for my needs right now is the X-pole. I will be ordering mine on Monday (SS or Chrome). Reason being, I currently live in Africa because of my parents' job and x-pole has a headquarters in South Africa which is nearer than the UK or America which are the only places to get Platinum Stages poles. This would cost less and make the delivery faster as I would like to start polling as SOON as possible cuz I'm so pumped! I also figured that if I needed a replacement or to return it for any reason, I could just send it to S.A. instead of the states. Also, I was only going to get a "top loading" PS because their bottom sleeves are flimsy and dangerous (I'm not bashing their poles in fact it was a very hard descision for me to choose x-pole over them because I like their design better). However, X-pole allows for zero problematic bottom loading as they have a more high tech sleeve that fits into place without leaving any seams on the pole. I also think that at ceiling heights of 10 1/2 feet, x-joints are another necessity haha. They seem like less of a hassle than screwing threads. Plus an x-pole comes with a carryong case and PS sells them seperately and they're more expensive. I figured after all that, hey, it's just my FIRST pole. I plan on polling for many years and my next pole will most likely be a PS anyway so no worrys. As long as I can do something that I love that's really all that matters. I'll let ya'll know how it goes 🙂
