Thank you Veena. The three ways to exit the suicide spin are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Quick Lessons is a great addition to the site here. Anyone who isn’t using them should be….a wealth of information!
-
Thanks Veena!!! i know its hard, but i also feel like somehow Im not doing it correctly. Not in a huge way, but I feel like there is a detail I’m missing… but like my lowerbody momentum is going in one direction and my upper body is trying to pull it the other way for the invert. I dont know if that makes sense… but its also possible thats just the way it feels and I just need to get stronger to get it… But I kept hearing people say that the momentum should help you… so I feel like I’m not using it right!
In the meantime I’m going to prep by doing gemini climbs!
On a side note… I have to say. I’m blown away and touched by your responsiveness. You are a great teacher and a genuinely nice person who wants to help her students. I know its a ton of work to record these things, and you have the challenge of figuring out the moves yourself…. It’s just really a really nice thing for you to have done. Thank you.

Well hopefully I can help you understand the Shuffle a bit more!
Thank you guys!! I feel like a have a very full lineup of traditional lessons that have all the bells and whistles, to give everyone a good foundation! These quick lessons are really fun for me! 💜💜
-
oooh can’t wait to try these! its funny my friend showed me the shuffle a while ago but i never knew the name =p i find the first part pretty easy but ohhh yeahhhh you need to keep some juice in the tank for the second invert haha i have usually slipped down to floor level. so its helpful to try keep some height! =D
-
Allyson, did the Shuffle lesson help clear anything up for you?
-
Mentally, yes! I haven’t gotten to try it because in the chaos of switching beds and moving stuff around I decided to donate a bunch of things… So I had boxes stacked all over the pole room…, but the VVA came and picked them up today, so hopefully this week I’ll put my room back together! But honestly before I push the furniture back I kind of want to paint it purple (not a fan of the 💩 brown)
In the mean time I’ve still been taking classes, I just haven’t gotten to play around 😩 Sooooon hopefully!
Thank you for thinking of me 💕💕

Any new requests for me to work on? It was fun to have some new tricks to try!!
-
Maybe this one? Someone brought it up a couple days ago and while I can make the end result happen, it is not pretty getting into it https://instagram.com/p/2eSMGJGqSA/

Any tips for handstands against the pole? (Not reverse handstands, regular facing handstands.) How about coming into a handstand from a cross knee release and then coming down? I can get into the handstand from the CKR but then I’m afraid of straightening both legs and getting down.
-
Poleisnewtome, it doesn’t have to be a clip from someone else, I’m always looking for any suggestion of new things you’d like me to teach you. Have you looked at the Handstand lesson here? https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/b6392600-b882-11df-856f-001b214581be Only asking because sometimes people miss things I have already 🙂
Thanks Lucca, I’ve not tried either of those, so it will be a nice challenge!!
-
I want to add that I think the fear of releasing my legs is partly due to there being so much pressure on my lower back when doing this move.
-
Thanks, Veena, I did look at the handstand lesson. I can sort of do a regular handstand against the pole only when I have my shoulder against the pole and can hook my foot. I want to be able to do it the right way, which is to start further from the pole and allow my butt to be what catches me, the way you show in the lesson, but I’m too scared to even attempt that. I am more concerned about the CKR into the handstand, though, because I have that move, except for the last part which is unhooking the legs and pushing my foot against the pole to come down.
-
The best thing to do is work on handstands against a wall, then when it becomes comfortable move to the pole. Do you mean pressure on your lower back when coming out from CKR, as in the pole is against the tailbone?
-
No, not pressure on my tailbone, pressure on my lower back from my lower body after I place my hands down. It feels like the weight of my legs and hips is all piled on my lower back and I feel like I have no strength to even move my legs at that point. Does that make sense?
-
Sounds like you’re arching your back, you want to think about contracting the abs as you mentioned and pulling the tailbone under you. I really suggest working on handstands against the wall then moving on to releasing off the pole and hardstanding against the pole. There’s a lot going on in handstand. Can you do forearm stands? These are super helpful in achieving handstands. 🙂
-
Thanks, Veena. I think thats what it is, that I’m arching my back. I have to figure out a way to minimize that.
I am comfortable doing elbowstands against the pole and have been practicing them away from the pole. But overall, these inverted moves are really difficult for me. I feel like I need a padded cell to practice in. 😀
-
I still can’t figure out how to not arch my back 🙁 it’s like the second I realize I’m in a forearm stand/handstand I arch my back and fall over. It makes me feel like a fainting goat or something
-
HI Veena — While there are soooo many titanic tutorials out there, I know that if anyone can get me into it, you can…that’s my request!
-
You know, it took me well over a year to really find my balance and strength in my core to not hold “stands” arched. Working on my over all core awareness, like what I’ve shared in the Veena’s tips really made a change for me. I use to not be able to walk very far because I had such terrible pain in my hips and now I walk, and walk with no pain! It was like magic! I never had pain when dancing or stretching just walking, I tried to watch my foot placement, knees, hip rotation all kinds of stuff and nothing would help. All I had to do was be aware of my pelvis and low back, and condition them every time I work out., pain free. I’m not saying that is your issue, but it really takes so much time and consistent practice where balance is concerned, at least for me, it did not come easily despite how fast pole work comes for me.
-
I find it really hard though not to arch your back when your legs are gripping the pole and your arms are down at a distance. I just can’t get over this hurdle. 🙁
-
Hi Veena — Any hope in breaking this one down??? Thanks so much for all you’ve worked on to date!
