I have an idea so that people don't think posts are aimed at them unless you're actually talking to them. Put @ then their username so there's no confusion. And if we ignore the negative person attempting to stir up drama, they will eventually get tired and go away since they aren't getting what they wanted which is attention.

@Oliviaaa -sorry, I just got up and have not had coffee yet. "I didn't see any negtive in your post other than a funny thougt" – Meaning I didn't see anything negative in the post period. Not that the funny thougt was negavtive. 🙂

This is such a supportive community that comments like saying we are "wannabes" is sorta sad yk.  To each his/her own.

As a former exotic dancer and now ' just' a pole dancer I believe that I am qualified to give the opinion that the two are COMPLETELY different. Yes it is true… there is lap dance, a pole, sexy costumes, 'stripper shoes' involved BUT the difference lies not just with the audience- it lies within the dancer themselves. When I was working as an exotic dancer, I danced for SOMEONE ELSE. I danced for money. I danced to be sexy- FOR THE MEN who were paying me. Now as 'just' a pole dancer I dance for ME. I dance because I love it…because it makes me feel sexy, confident and free. I finish a workout sometimes and truly feel like I could fly. Pole dance has reshaped my body after having a child and given me incredible strength and confidence. Working as an exotic dancer is a JOB, And obviously there is an element of nakedness involved. Pole dancing does not involve nakedness- we need the minimal clothing to stick to the pole. There is such a massive difference, I wish I could put it into words better.

I dont think there is anything wrong with the ladies (or men) on here from wanting a stage name. We are PERFORMERS. PERFORMERS HAVE STAGE NAMES. Think about it- most singers have stage names- actors etc…..Many of the pole community film themselves and create videos for here or on youtube- they are PERFORMERS….A good example is Jenna Marbles on Youtube. She is a very famous youtuber, but her real name is hardly Jenna marbles right? why? because she is an entertainer and performer!! In addition to this, some of us want to get our name out there as pole dancers or have aspirations to turn pro in the future and this will protect our privacy.

I love the idea of creating a stage personality when doing any type of performance. It can be so hard to share yourself with an audience through dance, song, or anyt type of performing. Sometimes creating that stage personality and giving them a name helps. My days of performing have come and gone and while I have my doubts about performing again in the future if i did I think i would create a stage name and build upon it. 🙂 I would probably pick something with KiKi in it

I beg to differ on the men getting down to their tighty whiteys.  Any man who poles on a METAL pole does, any PERSON who performs on a neoprene pole (ie Chinese pole) does not.

Look up Josiah BadAzz, David Owen, Ricky Phoenix, Philip Deal, Steven Retchless, and any number of the guys on this site.

And then look up Rebecca Star on her new pole.  It is a Chinese pole and she poles in a body suit.  Her performances on a metal pole are skin bearing.

Do a little research before making accusations.

Ok Poleshimmy, lets see you do a jade splits with sweat pants on and a shirt on. then we'll see how necessary minimal clothing is. The reason guys can get away with wearing more clothes is because they have more muscle than us and it is easier for them to gain muscle.

Although I have seen David do a jade split/switch in pants, but then again, he is a freak of nature.  (this is said with love as David is an effing beautiful person in and out)

No, that was Steele Starling.  He is one of the Mynx boys.  And I believe that is Steven's real name.

I would have a stage name mainly because my first name is TOO hard to pronounce.  EVERYONE can never pronounce it right, even when it's just 3 letters long.  It's such a simple name to try and pronounce but people always butcher it.

    Ouh-wah

    Aiye-wah

    Eeeh-wah

Really?  Is that how you pronounce your e's?
