Pole “stage” name
Posted by Runemist34 on February 15, 2011 at 8:42 pmHey guys!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
I was thinking about the fact that a lot of "sensual dance" classes encourage their ladies to choose new names, sort of a "stage name" that we can have fun with.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif
Even though I'm a writer, I generally have an awful time with names! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif Especially ones for myself. What kinds of pole names could I possibly choose? There is a world of names, real and imagined, that I could use…and I get muddled with choices.
Some fun ideas that have been posed to me were things like…my first pet, and my Grandmother's maiden name. You know what I came out with? Dusty Hooker. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Not kidding! Seriously, most of these ideas really don't work for me! Current pet and favourite food? Moe Pizza. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Anything to do with dessert is usually "chocolate" for me, and, well…I'm very…not chocolate. Sorry, I suppose I have a bias with that.
Anyways…do YOU guys have any fun names for dancing with? Even if you are not performing or anything, you could still come up with a name! Do you have any interesting/effective techniques for coming up with names? Is there something you look for in a good "Pole" name, rather than a normal one, or perhaps any other kind of stage name? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif

I picked my name by combining the names of two movie characters I felt drawn to – Holly from Breakfast at Tiffany's (classy, endearing and free-spirited) and Satine from Moulin Rouge (spicy, seductive and tragic).
…Or you can google "stripper names" but that tends to be less personal unless there's a name that really strikes you as fitting.
-
We always used your frist pet and the street you grew up on. Everyone's always came out hilarious except mine. Oddly enough I liked it and it is what I use! I had a terrier named "Kiki" and I grew up on "Generes Ave."……….. Hence, Kiki Generes!
-
Charley is a combination of my first and last name but I need to come up with a last name now lol as Charley Pole isn't terribly believeable.
The first pet and street game – I love it – I'm "Frisky New York" using that method.
-
Charley, I always wondered where it came from! Mine is ridiculous, as I am, and I would like to change it…Pole(becuz I like to Pole) and Lush..becuz I also like my alcobolic bevvieshttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif…NOT together, mind you!
The other method, street and pet name, would give me Sammy Sexton..which ain't bad (we lived on Sexton side road in Essex)…
-
Sammy Sexton! I love it!!!!!!
"because of my love of alcoholic bevvies" LOL – All I can think when I read that was "VODKA!"
I like Jenn Polelush but still often call you JennRN – like your name is JennRN, hahaha.
-
Ooh this is fun!! Hahaha mine would be Copper Willys. Sounds more like a sexy toy!
I like Holly Satines idea! Holly Golightly is one of my all time fav characters!!
As a writer, do you have a favorite book character? I’m sure you’ll think of something… -
Mine is Cutie Pie. I think it’s fun to have stage names.
-
Everyone's name is so nice! haha I want to use Quinn as mine because I really like the character Harlequin from Batman but someone already had Harley and (at the time) I didn't know anyone that had Quinn. Then I found someone else had chosen it too, which isn't such a suprise, but I wanted something special haha. Others on my list were Sephira and Jasmine..
See I try to choose something related to stuff I really like – like I love birds(especially owls) and trawled through species names but nothing sounded much like a stage name haha. I've kind of given up finding a stage name but if you get it right it adds so much to your performance (I think).
Some cool stage names i've heard are Felix (duh), Roxy, Cleo, Chilli, Daisy, Rocket, Bunni, Ryder, Harley, Sapphire, Shimmy, Missy etc.etc. think you just go through words and find something that fits your personality!!
-
Ollie – if you like birds…have you thought about Robin?
-
Kiki: My name, if we went with first pet and first street I lived on (lets say, first street I remember living on!) is Dusty Barclay. Personally, not really sexy, but kinda funny 😛
I REALLY like Sammy Sexton and Copper Willys! More for their comedic value, but still…you girls could pull them off! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Ollie: I've heard of a million names and they're all pretty similar. I had to come up with my own Burlesque name, and it took me FOREVER. I had to wade through all of those, because there are so many Roxy's, and Kitties, and all kinds of things!
I'm somewhat interested in the idea of taking two characters you're particularly drawn to and mushing them together. Gives one a good sense of what they're going for, considering the character traits are already there.
For reference, my Burlesque name is Patricia (from the song "Patricia the Stripper") Wiggles. My husband and I came up with it. I was wiggling for him. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Generally, though, I think my Burlesque self and my Pole self are different, they come from different parts of me. I'll have to consider!

You could use a favourite move in your name, like dove or swan or gemini. Maybe not lunchbox or crucifix though 🙂
Fun thread, I now have two options if I ever need to get a stage name 🙂
-
@VinterVild….I had to LOL at Lunchbox..that cracked me up…no, not too sexy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
-
i LOVE the idea of taking a name that combines of the names of characters you like! my would be … oh, should i really say that here? don't want anyone to steal it 😉
no, seriously, i have to think about that. hopefully i'll come up with a pretty name! a combination of the first pet and the first street i was living in (we call this find your porn-name, lol) would be the worst name ever. wutzel deaf-mute (streetname translated). https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif can't really use that, haha.
-
Such a great idea about referencing favorite film/literary characters for names… But my fave heroine is Elizabeth Bennet, (P&P by Jane Austen)… not exactly a sexy name 😛
Hmmm… I love Bronte novels too… but Bronte beach in Sydney was not one of my faves – im def more of a Coogee gal 😛 haha Sorry im thinking out loud now… ah its so hard to find the perfect combo isnt it!
-
so my pet/street name would be…Chelsea Illinois. Sorry sounds more like a porn star name to me! LOL
Lulu is just easy. My first name, everyone has a hard time pronouncing and writing it. I cant tell you how many times its been all types of messed up, one of the many reasons I go by Lulu or just Lu. But Ive really thought about this and Lulu sounds so sweet and innocent and then its perform time and WHAM! Im not what they expected! LOVE it!
-
If we go strictly pet/street mine would be Black Kings. But I prefer to use the middle name/street, which would be Elizabeth Kings, and I like that much better. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
-
Mine would be Tigger Port Grat if I did the pet/street thing. I've been trying to come up with a stage name that suits me for ages, the first one I thought of was based on my birthstone, which was Sapphyra, but I took a "What's your hippy name" quiz on Facebook the other day and got Phoenix which I kinda like. Still don't know if it's really "me" though.
Loved reading your stories/names! Let us know what you come up with Runemist!
-
These thread have got me considering having a pole name now! For me pet/street comes out as 'Posy Broomfield' which I'm not sure if I like or not. Kinda sounds like an 1800s east-end lady of the night. I think it would be a good burlesque name but doesnt really suit how I approach pole. Not that I have any real 'approach'.
Any ideas yet Runemist?

If I used the first pets name and street I would be Brandy, HC box 57! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif lol but I could go with the closest town I lived near instead of street…..then I would be Brandy Regan ….that shouts porn star https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

hell my first pet name and street would be Meow Burger!!! ha h aha
-
So my porn name (pet/ street) would be Sam Darling–not bad actually! I think part of the reason I bought the house was the street name. I still love it!
My burlesque/ pole name is Layla Duvay. I came up with it years ago and I still like it. I make NO distinction between my burlesque self and my pole self, lol!
-
Meow Burger?!?! That's AMAZING. Like, it's not terribly sexy and stuff…it's just…amazing because it is. Yes, I know, I'm weird.
Hehehe.
The trick for names coming from book characters and whatnot is that I read a lot of fantasy, and most people wouldn't know what the hell I'm on about…AND most female main characters, for some reason, are more…um, "innocent" or "bitchy," rather than sexy or fun or whatever. OR, they are "unattainable," like the elves in Lord of the Rings or whatever…totally a different race, totally unattainable, and thus…not sexy. So there isn't much to get from them! It kinda sucks.
And then, well, romance books, they're all perfect and sexy and whatnot, and they aren't very unique. It's a thing with romance, trust me, I don't know why it works…it just does.
Strangely, I like the name of Felix, though obviously I wouldn't be using it. It's so…soft, and exotic and fun. The sound of it makes me interested, and you can do so much with it! I don't know why I get this stuff from names…I just do 😛
I love you guys…I didn't really expect to get such a response! I love names and the mythology behind them. Hell, I love mythology too 😉
I'll keep you all posted!
