I love the look of heels… I really think a good 7in spike heel makes my butt look smaller. 😉 However, I am a klutz and will not wear shoes on carpet, so I almost never dance in them as I have a carpeted apartment. Which means I get no practice in them. Often when I wear heels, I only do floorwork for that reason.  I spend the entire time worrying about falling over.  That being said, I think a bare foot can be intensely emotive, and for me, that is completely lost if I put on shoes. I love to dance barefoot, and I do monkeyfoot  a lot, so… can't really use shoes for those types of moves.  I say both! or whatever you want!

I prefer to dance barefoot. I danced when i was younger and find it frustrating when i can't point or flex my toes in shoes. I honestly prefer being barefoot a lot of the time though. 🙂

Like a lot of people have said, I learn moves barefoot and then proceed to work it in heels 😉 I believe the heels give me better lines and make me look more graceful. It forces me to flex my legs, which to me looks better. I’ve filmed myself with both bare feet and heels and I noticed I have a really hard time staying on my toes while standing. Flat feet just makes me look shorter, so naturally I love heels

I started in heels…went to bare feet and I’m now coming back to heels. Not all the time because I have little ones that love to hang out with me while I practice and since they know it as “working out” I try to keep the sexy to a minimum and no heels. However when I’m at the studio (we teach barefoot but I’m trying to bring back heels) after class or having sexy time to myself after they’re in bed I LOVE my shoesies….if you’re trying to dance on carpet – try a piece of clear packing tape on the sole, reduces the friction, helping you pirouette & slide better. I like heels when Im alone more than anything because no one is around to see those “bambi on ice” monents and …but when doing the shoe slides & circles with the AA floor work DVD in your living room…if you have a giant picture window remember to close your blinds….because I’m pretty sure my neighborhood thinks I spend all day in panties & platforms !
