    Hi all,

unfortunately this is another example of pole dancing in the news that does not highlight the great benefits of it but rather makes fun of it. To make matters worse, they showed a video of some poor girl taking a face plant after climbing the pole in jeans and attempting to go into what looks like a flag pole. The least they could of done was show a video that highlights the creativity and strength in pole dancing too. I’ve seen this video on youtube before and my first thought was "this girl was probably drunk when she attempted this.". Anyways, the link is below.

The girl shouldn’t have been inverting in jeans anyways. I’ve seen that clip more times than I care to count… *sigh* Oh the Internets.

I put in "Pole dance" in the search bar and they have a few other vids…

"Pole Dancing for students" A UK school brought in a pole dancer for fitness week.

"Pole Dancing for health" Women talking about their pole fitness experiences.

"Woman sues over pole dancing" Another story about someone having trouble opening up a pole dance studio because the people in the town think it is seedy.

Yeah, I’ve seen this one a hundred times too. Kind of suprised to see it on CNN, LOL. It’s hardly news.

    OUCH!

Yes, I agree that the host was a moron: smug little sneer in his voice when he said "pole dancing".

I’ve seen this video a few times too, poor girl, never pole dance when you’re drunk…and in jeans, it would’ve been better if she just stripped her jeans right there if she really really wanted to get on the pole, safer anyways.

I think it says something about the quality of newscasting when this is on CNN…the media is such a joke.

I think they were desperate for a story and ended up resorting to this.

I think its crazy the way anybody can steal your videos and publicize them. It’s quite scary actually https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Grr! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif He probably played that clip because he hasn’t had a girlfriend in ages and when/if he gets one, she will definitely not be a sexy pole dancer like any of us awesome ladies!

I have seen that clip plenty of times. YES they were a little negative about the whole thing BUT if your gonna pole DRUNK and in the wrong kind of clothing and someone just so happens to catch your misfortune on camera then sorry charlie its most likely going to end up on youtube. Lets face it she doesn’t look like she was in a enviorment where people where going to be spportive. It looked like she was at a party where some guy put up a pole to watch drunk girls show off. Poor thing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif I would have been super embaressed but because I know better I wouldn’t have been poling in my jeans and a spaghetti strap shirt.

Oh My Gosh! They just ripped pole dancing apart! I can’t believe the hosts comment about not wearing clothes while pole dancing. It shows none of them did any research into the sport. I’d love to see them on a pole! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Before you start ripping him apart…. his commentary might not even be his own opinion. Major broadcasting corporations like CNN have people checking people checking their work checking those people…. so on and so forth. In the end news pieces are controlled by producers (most of the time) and reporters have become nothing but actors reading cue cards and prompt screens. Sometimes what the reporter reads is in their own words but other times writers just do it for them. It is no coincidence what news we see and what is hushed aside. It isn’t common but you do hear about reporters leaving big news agengies because they get sick of the bureaucracy. I went to the CNN headquarters in Atlanta and it is HUGE with tons of workers. Nothing like corporate rule over your creative work. *shivers*

There is always more pressing news than "Naked subway riders in NYC" but I heard that CNN is losing a lot of viewers. They are simply using the same lame old theory that sex sells. They think that by spicing up or dumbing down their news they’ll get younger viewers. *sigh* https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

And yet ANOTHER reason why i dont watch the news….
Really, they couldnt find anything better to talk about than bloopers?
If they are gonna show a blooper of something (and its NOT a blooper/funniest video show) they should show the great side of it as well. That would make for a much better story I think, people actually looking really good doing that kind of stuff. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif But of course not, always got to poke fun.
I just feel bad for that poor girl. You know that hurt. I wonder if she was okay with them using her video like that? Not that she has a say anyway….

Yeah, I saw this video when I first started on the pole 2.5 months ago. It is sad that this video is sensationalized as part of pole dancing. this in my opinion is not a display of pole dancing what so ever. This video is a clip of a woman who clearly did not know what she had gotten herself into, and she got hurt. Would you attempt a gymnastic flip without training? Of course not. People do not realize the strength and hours of training it takes to even pull off the simplest spin around the pole, and these videos really solidify that. I hope people learn from this poor young woman’s experience and start taking this seriously, she was really hurt and it wasn’t right or funny.
CNN was really irresponsible for making this into a story. It would have been better if they had taken a moment to research and find out who this woman was and whether or not she was actually trained to be doing what she was doing before she got hurt. It might have been better if they had a professional show the audience what real pole dancing tricks look like, so it doesn’t make the sport look reckless and talentless.
    hmmmmmjust a thought.

The guys a douche, hes just trying to find something to laugh at and the fact its pole dancing just makes him feel a little better up there on his smug high horse.
    What a fool.

as for the girl, im sure she wasnt the first person to do it, and im sure she wont be the last. Shame they didnt pick another video of something that no1 in that studio could have done, and see what matey said then… what a douche.
